That was a freak accident and 99 out of every 100 players wouldn't get hurt on that slide. Give me a break man, he's a good player.

I don't know, he clearly planted his left cleat in the dirt before he started the slide. He's lucky it wasn't an ACL with all the ACL injuries now a days. What you guys don't understand, it's what the Cubs think moving forward that matters. Baez could certainly fill in until Russel is ready in the short term. Castro has a lot of value. That means that he will bring back value. Hey, I'm rooting for the kid like I said, but don't be surprised if I'm right.

Yep. It's plain dumb.

I'll make you a deal. I won't make a word about it again, but if I'm right, you post a formal apology towards me in your signature for the entire next year. I will sweeten the deal by adding that I'll also never post here again. Are you that confident?

Id be more surprise if they traded a .290 - .300 hitting SS with 15+ HR this off season for a .190 still unproven prospect to start there...

You're not wrong at all about them trading him. It can happen, especially like how you mentioned all of the shortstops they have. I just hope they don't trade him. I think Addison Russell will be good, but I would rather have a proven player like Starlin Castro. Castro isn't old either, he's only 24 and most players don't get the call up until they're around that age and he came up himself at 20. They can eventually move someone like Addison Russell to the outfield as well But yeah, it's what the Cubs want moving forward.

At least you're level headed, thank you. Let me be clear. I hope he figures it out too. I'd love to see him in the 5 or 6 spot, maybe even 2 or 3, if he keeps the average up. That would be an awesome lineup, imo. But unfortunately, his salary, his mental mistakes, and his clear offensive talents, are something other teams might want to try and pry from the Cubs.

I didn't mean to imply that other teams would like his mental mistakes. That, and a good offer from another team, are reasons the Cubs may actually make the trade.

This is the very kind of thing that's makes me believe the Cubs could trade him. The real question I have, is how much have the Cubs been working with his base running. If not, shame on the Cubs, but if they have, and Castro is just not getting it, not good.

Yeah, well the sobering thing us, he plays a position where there's a premium on defense but this guy has excuse makers of all sorts coming out of the woodwork where that's concerned. The base running is just an added layer to the drama.

I am very confident, but I wouldn't make that kind of a deal, if I wanted a Nissan and you were the last Nissan salesman on earth. I'm not saying that because I like or dislike you either to be clear.

Fair enough, I'm not surprised, but fair enough. It's ok to have a different opinion. Just to show you that I'm a decent guy, I'm going to let the subject go the rest of the season. But I will have Spock like eyebrow raise if the next news is that the Cubs are going to shelf Castro the rest of the year like Rizzo. Glad to hear Rizzo's injury is a strain, I was concerned that it was a disc problem or something.

If they shelve Castro for the rest of the season, that has nothing to do with trading him. As for whether they trade him or not, if by some surprise .0001% chance that happens in the off-season, I'll be one of the first to admit I was wrong and eat crow. I don't need to place bets to do something like that.

Dude, do you have Castro's face tattooed on your scrotum or something? You should also look into a "Jerome Walton or bust" tattoo.

Your High School Composition teacher must be proud.

Your English teacher should be fired just for your offensive knowledge of proper nouns. I didn't go to school in Illinois. So if you're going to talk smack you might want to consider the macro. I'm not from a Illinois and I'm not from the South either. Good luck with that.

There is only one Illinois, correct? Just making sure before my mind explodes.
