I believe the conspiracy theories are brought up on these forums on a routine basis...some have solid ground...some of them sad and weak. But since such a conspiracy was called that BEFORE the draft, why not have something said about it after it happens? People openly said that the fix was in if NO wins the draft...they won.

Stern should have said no and then explained to the fans...people he no longer seems to care about...the process. For example, I didn't know that certain journalists are chosen to be in the room when the actual lottery takes place. KC Johnson spoke about that. I am sure many fans don't know that.

Those type of questions have to be answered by commissioners all the time. Nothing new. Stern has been a bit surly for quite some time now. He seems to have quite a condescending tone towards media members these days.

Whether Rome is a butthole or not...the question was going to be asked by somebody. And Stern is right, there were a few scenarios, including the Bobcats, that would have supported conspiracy theories it seems.

Dude's an idiot too.

the thing about cowherd is either he's spot on or he's completely wrong and he sounds like an idiot...he's a bit stubborn and think he has some insight to everything which rubs alot of people the wrong way(especially me, when at times he knows jack shit)

agree on a lot of this

thing is stern is a bit slimy and surly..the issue was not totally on the subject of rome's question..it's that rome asked it in a dryly candid way that seems to take a shot at stern...stern understood this and shot the same kind of thing back at him but rome couldn't handle it...

i'm sure stern knows and doesn't mind the question as much as it perhaps seemed on the show, but wording and tone are important

I think Stern and Rome are both dipshits.

I wouldn't mind herd as much if he was such a jackass front-runner.

MLB Team - Yanks
NBA Team - Lakers/Lebron
NFL Team - Patriots
College BBall - Duke

His Lebron stuff iritates me the most...not b/c of his argument, but b/c he complains about 'meatballs' who are haters, but he's an apologist for him, and lbj can do no wrong in herd's eyes. When he brings up Brady or Lebron, I turn the radio off.

ya they're both pretty dumb..i do like the fact that stern is against some of the AAU corruption crap and wants to raise the age limit in the NBA

Stern did nothing to strengthen the perception that the draft lottery is a random event. By losing his cool, he blew it big time.

Yeah, true. My thing is when the guy is trying to make a point he feels the need to almost talk through metaphors to come up with half-baked unrealistic scenarios. The drives me crazy most of the time. He's just not the type of guy who belongs on TV. Leave him on radio. :lmao:

Stern didnt lose his cool.

Yea he was extremely calm. Smug a-holes like Stern usually don't lose their cool. It's almost like it's beneath them. Now obnoxious a-holes like Rome will lose their cool at the drop of a hat.

I just find the double standard here laughable. Stern always talks about the image of the league & is always adamant about representing the league the right way. Then he goes on a reputed tabloid-style sports show & says "Do you still beat your wife?" to the host beacuse he felt offended by a question. Guarantee if a player said that during an interview, he'd be either getting a fine or a serious talking to from Stern or even both. :smh:

cowherd bashed drose every day the year he won mvp. he wanted lebron to get it, not surprisingly. and he was so proud of himself to disagree with the 95% of all people that were with drose. the more he talked the more stupid he sounded. cowherd can be a real jackass sometimes.

Stern didnt lose his cool.

Calmly asking a host who has zErO history of spousal abuse if he beats his wife is still losing his cool. You want these types of things to flame out. His actions only fuel the fire.

He made it a point to ask an open ended question that implies guilt in regards to a yes or no response. JR asked him if the fix was in. Simply saying no would have been optimal from a public relations standpoint because such a response does not leave the impression that commissioner Stern was acting defensively.
