Well, worth mentioning:

My bro and Sis-in-law are in the Tri-cities and toured the Hanford plant yesterday. Said it was freaking awesome. Just hope they don't come back glowing...;)

Your "vacation" sounds like waaaaay too much.

I'll be heading to the Phoenix area to chill (although from what I hear, there is no coolness that time of year) the first week in August. Buddy's mother has a timeshare. My only plans are to relax, maybe read a little and hit up the Heart Attack Grill at least once.
OMG are you going there for the food or the waitresses? I saw that place on the travel channel. They cook their fries in lard and they put lard on the burgers. Get one of those quadruple bypass burgers and take a picture eating it.

Nothing planed at the minute, this recession is killing my travelling. Maybe if business picks up a trip to Chicago in the new year and take in a couple of games.

And perhaps I'll try a Lucky Strike while I'm there to complete the experience. The massive burger isn't really my forte, but the buddy I'm going with I'm pretty sure will try it.

You mean like that cigarette thing? Or is that an item on the menu? I think they have Coke in those old bottles too. You could be the board Don Draper.

And I don't believe they add lard (like a topping) to the burgers, just cook them in it, like the fries.

I'm probably the only person in this country who hasn't seen Mad Men... although I am a fan of January Jones.

Last year I tried to count how man cigarettes were smoked in a episode, but it was impossible to keep up.

Hun, I saw the show again tonight and they put big giant spatulas Of lard on the bun. They look good, but I don't know if I could eat lard on my bun. Be careful, but enjoy.

Looks like I'll be heading to Minneapolis for two weeks... Maybe I can hit the Sox-Twins game while I'm up there...
We're heading out to Manitou Springs, CO in mid August where I'll run the Pikes Peak Ascent & Marathon. Then heading further West to Ouray to (GULP!) get married somewhere in the surrounding mountains, either on top of Imogene Pass or on Oh! Point on Engineer Mountain. After the nuptials we'll head back into town to relax on the balcony of our room which has a naturally fed hot springs tub. Throw in some off roading on some of the gnarliest trails in America, the aforementioned Imogene and Engineer passes along with Black Bear Pass, (hello switchbacks!) and we'll be more than ready to catch the California Zephyr through Glennwood Canyon and back home.

Phew! We may need a vacation from our vacation.
You, my friend, are out of your fucking mind.

Spent 10 days in Montana earlier this month. One full day at Glacier National Park, three days at the National Folk Festival in Butte. Had a blast...

Oh, then in October, the wife and I will be taking the California Zephyr to SF and back, spending a week out there.

Not only does he run about 5 times further any of the rest of us can go (OK, 50x in RK's case), he does it at 12,000 feet up in mountains on gravel trails. That's fucking nuts.

Re: Summer Vacation (Now That Hockey Is Over)~ Where You Off

Summers is almost over, but I've managed to finegal two vacations in in September. Fishing for a 4 days in Northern Wisconsin (Fay Lake) and then backpacking/hiking the Redwoods in California for a week.

The Redwoods are one of my favorite places that I've ever been. I'm so stoked to be going back there.
