A teacher has been jailed after being accused of having sex with five of her teenage students during an orgy at her home Brittni Colleps, a married mother of three, invited the boys to her Texas home for the sex romp and the encounter was filmed on their cell phones.

Yea I can see the ethical reasons if they are directly instructing them, but what if they are not instructing the student or the student is not in their program? What about a TA with a grad student from completely different programs. In any case, the broad stroke usually makes the matter easier to manage and rule on.

Every college/school system has a set of rules + the laws vary from districts/towns.

I'm a TA at DePaul, and strangely enough I have no idea what the rules are for that kind of situation-- not that I'm going to engage in that kind of act anytime soon (or ever) with a fellow student.

My friend is a PhD teaching in Georgia, and he specifically asked the school what the ground rules were (he's single-- it's a fair question). His school allowed dating of students as long as they were not enrolled in any current courses or directly outside the major (more or less he has free reign with students after they have taken the class and if it was an elective for them).

If it was a male teacher and 5 students that were all female (or male, doesnt matter), it doesnt change the fact that consenting adults decided to partake in an act that is not illegal. It wasnt on school grounds, it was in private ownership.



Now, if there was someone forced to partake? If the students were 14? Oh yeah, get that court crap moving.



If this is against the school policy as a place of employment, sure fire her. I am pretty sure that if I had 5 women and caught at my place of work, well I would be a legend, but fired. My work would have no case to file criminal charges.



This reamins a case brought up on consenting adults partaking in activities that are not illegal. In fact, I think I am now more bothered about the fact that IS considered a case. What law is broken?
