Jokerit's season just ended with a 3-2 loss in whatever sort of postseason the SM-Liiga has. Teuvo has no more games to play overseas.

Renaming this thread to Teuvo Watch. I'll update this thread with any news I see on Twitter.

This from Juha Hiitela on Twitter, a Finnish reporter for NHL.com

Teuvo’s season in Finland is over. Unless they invite him to national team, which is unlikely. So off to Windy City, kid.

And this is why Kesler wasnt an option.

Sharp/TT/Kane. Good lord. Saad/ Tazer/ Hoss, Bickell/Shaw/Steeg, Zues/ Kruger/Smith

Yeah, good fucking luck in the playoffs West.

Milk?

I have concerns with the Sharp/TT/Kane line as being too small for the first line...

I think (when the playoffs start) that Bickell (the playoff version of Bickell, not the RS version) should be on the Toews/Saad line.

One of the glaring issues (for me) is Versteeg. Call me crazy, but I see Versteeg and Toews building some chemistry, and could be an option if Bickell returns to the RS Bickell during the playoffs.

Toews/Saad/Bickell (or Versteeg if Bickell chips)
TT/Kane/Sharp
Shaw/Hossa/Versteeg (or Bickell if Bickell can't handle the first line)
Kruger/Bollig/Smith

Going to be pretty interesting to see how the Blackhawks go about TT. I still don't think it is a guarantee that we get to see him this year, but a pretty solid chance.

If he plays in more than 9 games (regular season and playoffs combined) then a year of his ELC is lost...which is a valuable year to a team like the Blackhawks who are up against the cap and likely will be for years to come.

If he plays in the regular season, Blackhawks will need to make cap space (no cap in the playoffs) - which won't be as easy as it seems.

Will he start in Rockford possibly?

I'm sure things will be more clear as time goes on, and I'm (just like everyone else) is pretty curious on what is going to happen.

Rockford has an absolute logjam at center. I don't believe they're bringing him over here to play in the AHL. Just my opinion.

But, as HawkWriter said, if the Hawks want to bring him to the parent club they have to cut some cap space. There are a few options: waiving Brookbank is one. Calling up LaBarbera and sending down Raanta is another, as LaBarbera has less of a cap hit. Should be an interesting few days.

Rockford would make room for TT at center if needed. I don't know if it happens, but I don't think it is a terrible option.

Switching LaBarbera and Raanta won't bring enough cap space because LaBarbera has a cap hit of $1mil and Raanta a cap hit of .925 (Before performance bonuses which he hasn't hit many). Brookbank will barely give the Blackhawks enough cap space (if he is claimed, then he will give them plenty) because part of his buried contract would count against the Blackhawks. While I think Brookbank is the "obvious" choice here, I don't know if the Blackhawks want to waive him before the playoffs.

There are a lot of ways the Blackhawks can go with this and it is hard to see which way they are leaning.

for the record I don't expect anything from him except some flashes. I hope he stays safe, because 19 yo and 170 lbs kinda scares me. He needs to become a man, and a hockey player is tough as hell, I just wonder about knocking all his teeth out and getting full sized checks at that age.

Hopefully he can athletically protect himself, I know he has been doing it, but this is the NHL.

I am both worried and excited, like a virgin

I'm sure he'll be in for a rude awakening at some point in his first few NHL games. The good players are the ones that learn how to adjust.

Personally, I wouldn't seeing him get a shot at the Blues in the regular season. They've got one more tilt against them in April. If he can handle the Blues, he can probably handle the physical punishment from any NHL team.

So just throw him into the hottest fire hell has to offer eh? Galvanize his flesh as just a baby.

I hope that's not his NHL debut but it would be nice to expose him to the kind of teams he'll need to excel against in order to be a mainstay on the team.

From Tracey Myers on Twitter today ... believe this came during Coach Q's pregame interview.

Update on Teravainen: he's coming to town at some point and playing at some point.

Another important update from Bob McKenzie today. Teuvo had another year on his contract in Finland, so he had to receive clearance to come to the states. Hurdle, cleared.

Teuvo Teravainen has been cleared by FIN federation/Jokerit to join CHI. Hawks will decide in coming days where (NHL or AHL)/when he plays.

Hawks would need actual cap space first for Teuvo.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

"Teuvo Teravainen travels today from FIN to Windy City. That's CHI, not Lethbridge, in case there was confusion. Lethbridge is windy, too."

Also seen reports that the Blackhawks are going to be broadcasting Friday's morning skate online. Gee, I wonder why?

Considering how the forwards are dropping lately - they will need bodies- wonder if they might consider bringing Morin up as well - personally I can see maybe giving TT a game or two in NW Illinois -if only to get some game experience at the smaller rink -unless, there isn't much at stake -and there is much at stake -at the very least, home ice in the first round/

So did we do all the right things with his development? Or Q is just slow to warm by the fire that is TT?
