•A.J. Pierzynski tells Dan Hayes that he is much more prepared for free agency now than he was in 2010. Pierzynski said he would like to return to the White Sox or possibly play for the Rays in his home state of Florida, though his childhood dream of playing for the Braves is unlikely with Brian McCann on board.

As much as I like Flowers, I still want AJ back.

Don't want catcher becoming a black hole again.

Saw this earlier and I could see a fit in Florida, I don't really want AJ back though because he would probably come at a high price, and as a 36 year old catcher who just had a career year, it can only go down from there IMO

I agree but he is still durable, good with pitching and can still hit. I mean who is better or atleast the same. he was a huge part of why we played so well last year, if he is gone and we replace him with someone stupid like most catchers than the bottom of the batting order will be really bad. also note the mets are interested in flowers for some reason.

Unless Jewkilis has already signed I have to disagree withcha on that one. Youk's the top 3B available, which means he's probably gone along with AJ.

Nah that's the Cubs job - Hill , Blanco , Bako , Soto . Y'know ... guys who couldn't hit their way out of a paper bag .

Oh boy they were good 'receivers' though . Can never have enough good 'receivers' back der behind da plate ya know .

Hill belongs in a different category.

Generally Catchers suck at hitting because catching is crazy difficult. All of those names are "half good catcher" guys. Blanco is a really, really good catcher and it wouldn't surprise me to see him end up as a coach some day. Soto's weight problems sapped his bat but he had ok offensive skills. Bako was a catch and throw guy too, but all of those parts have value.

I think if AJ is gone Flowers and Catcher X should split the duties, even if Catcher X is Salty from the BoSox.

No matter what happens with the White Sox catcher situation I would expect Tyler Flowers to get 30-40 starts at C.

The Yankees are hesitating on A.J. Pierzynski because they only view him as an average defender, Heyman tweets. The catcher is coming off of a big year but the market for him remains a mystery. General Manager Brian Cashman confirmed earlier this week that he has checked in with Pierzynski's representatives.

What are the yanks thinking? avg defender sure...so go out and get a great defender that sucks at hitting and doesnt work as hard as he does with the pitching staff. That short porch would be heaven for AJ.

If he re-signs with the Sox I'm guessing it's a two-year deal max.

The issue is that you're getting a catcher in his age 36 season who has already squatted for 13000+ innings in his career. That's a lot of wear and tear and I'm not sure how much you'd want to invest.

I hope he comes back. He can be over paid. I also think his defense looks bad because of our pitchers lack of ability to hold runners, but that's just me.

The drop from AJ to Flowers seems like a cliff in my eyes. So we over pay. To get the smartest living baseball player you do that until he shows he can't do it anymore.
