I forgot to add: Cullimore +1 with 1 assist...
He definitely wasn't as bad as we feared he might be and I'm happy about that. :D

whats' weird about that game is it seemed a mismatch, but Jackets hit posts early and could have had a 2-0 lead in the first.

Q: How can we explain the Cullimore factor?

A: Playing in the AHL was good preparation for Columbus.

Hammer back tomorrow. Kane too? Who sits or gets moved?

Scott may want to start looking at help wanted on Craigs List if he duznt dress vs sabres.

I"m still trying to figure out how good of a goalie Turks is. I still think he's just getting comfy in net. But often when he is in back of the net, my heart stops.

-5Minutes

ps: i have 4 extra in 219 for tomorrow's game. Just looking to get sth face. pm if interested.

Cullimore played a great game back on D, much better than Scott. However, I would like to see Scott dressed tomorrow. JUST IN CASE.

I still hate Cullimore and refuse to acknowledge that he has worn the indianhead. That said he played a good game along with the rest of the boys. Leddy continues to impress and is gonna make Q and Stan's decision very difficult when Campbell comes back.

Kopecky looks like he could really have a breakout year offensively. The Kopecky/Toews/Hossa line is really a force to be reckoned with right now. Turco looks like he's definitely not 100% comfortable in net yet, seemed like he was fighting the puck at times tonight.

Great win for the team, gotta carry that into tomorrow night and hope things dont get too chippy with Hjalmarsson.

One can only hope that the pieces fell into place for most of the players on the team and they build from this. Maybe a proper multi-goal win is what was needed to get this team back on its groove.

Thoughts:

-Surprisingly, Cullimore played well.

-Scott wasn't too bad at forward with limited minutes

-Cokepepsi/Toews//Hossa clearly have the most chemistry, which I've been supporting them since game 1. Keep them together.

-Stalberg/Skille work well together, since game 1.

-Leddy keeps impressing, but IMO tonight wasn't a great night for him.

-Turco looked good in net, forget the first goal, he made some amazing saves.. easily could have been a closer game.

-PK worked wonders.

-PP produced again, can't complain.

-It's Columbus, lets see how they come together tomorrow (or more like the next week) before saying the ship is righted.

Excellent first period, awful first ten minutes of the second, smooth last half. The stars showed up for the most part and the pluggers were solid. These types of games are easy to take a little too lightly and lose by a goal or in a shootout, but the Hawks made their effort count. I did think the Jackets laid a real egg, however. Especially for a home opener.

Toews, please start shooting the puck!

My word...I sincerely hope this is NOT the Hawks team we know. They can be SO much better in many areas of the game. They turned the puck over WAY too many times. And, as mentioned earlier, Turco looks like he's fighting the puck sometimes. If it hadn't been for the iron and Turcs grabbing a few pucks that trickled through/past him, it could have been a totally different outcome. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the ass-kicking we gave the BlowJackets. But the BJs don't appear to be a very good team at all.

Good performance from the team and a much needed win. Kudos to Cullimore for no **** ups and an assist too. Maybe his last stint here was just a bad dream. Roll on Buffalo...

Very limited minutes. About 2:30 of ice time. Ouch.
Yea I have to give credit where credit is due. That could be one of the best games I've ever seen Cullimore play as a Hawk. He settled down a rattled D. I remember him working with Keith and Seabrook when they were rookies. Seemed to have worked tonight.

Good win for the guys and needed.
I agree Culli looked good last night, he know what he was expected to bring and brought it. Suprised and happy...

Ugh... I'll actually admit that Cullimore looked decent out there. Certainly looked better than Scott has.

Id hope so since he's played 776 games at Defense.

That doesn't mean much when most as a Hawk he sucked ass, played with no desire and appeared he could care less a majority of the time. I never wanted to see him wear the Indian Head again!

That said I was surprised last night at the stability he appeared to add. I'll reserve total judgment as we go along. He's one of a very few Hawks I've actually seen shoot and score against his own goalie.

I'd assume he's gone for tonight's game with Hammer back and Scott will remain as a forward? Or is Kane expected to play?

I'm not sure that he's gone. They can afford to keep him and scratch Hendry or Scott. His play last night earned him another shot tonight IMO.
