These two last games were a microcosm of the whole Hawks season, one game dominant, the other bad sloppy plays and mistakes. The cap penalty hurt this team and they weren't able to man the bottom 6 with proper players and had to settle for bargain bin and rookies. And next year will be slightly better, but the Hawks wont have too much maneuvering room.

Hopefully the rookies of this year will work in the summer and improve for next year.

Hammer needs to up his game and Keith needs to get back into Norris form too. Seabs emerged as an alternative #1 this season and all in all the top players had good enough seasons. Basically it came down to the poor bottom 6 and injury trouble to the weak center position that made this season a disappointment.

If a miracle happens and the Wild manage to win the Stars, the Hawks were lucky and did not really deserve to advance, but I'll take it.

Injury Report: Dallas will be without Nicklas Grossman (knee) and Brian Sutherby (back). … Marco Scandella (broken finger), Cam Barker (back), Josh Harding (knee), James Sheppard (knee), Marek Zidlicky (hamstring), Martin Havlat (upper body), Guillaume Latendresse (lower body), Nick Schultz (post-concussion syndrome) and John Madden (foot) are all out for Minnesota.

Hammer was never the same after his hit earler in the year on Roy. He stopped hitting after that..it was weird. Team lacked much physicality all year. It was one of many little issues that combined into a something bigger.

I am not a cap specialist and I do know it played into not being able to ice a great 3rd and 4th line. But at the same time I do think management ego came into play also. When I see guys like Ben Smith play like he did in the few games he played with us yet having to watch guys lie Stalberg and Pisani suit up and add very little to this club it makes me think theres ego at work there. Bowman wanted to mae some marks of his own on this team. Smith is obviously NHL ready and has shown work ethic and job fight which i didnt see much out of stalberg and pisani this year.

Yet the deal for campoli was fantastic. That felt like a hockey trade and one ment for the team. The others have felt like ego deals in my opinion.

But yes having 2 centers on a club and having one go down with injuries was a kicker. That's something that needs to be addressed.

Was a decent effort today. Wings are just a very good team still and Datsyuk showed up and dazzled at times.

Q probably should have had Kane on the top line later in the game seeing Kane was our best offensive threat from upfront today. I think there was a mistake there. I still dont understand why q finds it a good idea to change up lines that worked the game before. I think Q had a horrible season behind the bench.

Stalbergs **** up haunts me so much. I can't pin the loss on him but that was feeble and it changed the momentum of the game and just not sure if the Hawks ever fully overcame it. Hes sitting in the dressing room feeling like shit about it too i am sure. Its no secret i dont like him so maybe i am being to harsh.

Bottom 2 lines were def a big issue this year though. Who knows what next season will bring. Many guys need to work on some things. Just wasn't a great team this year..lets be honest it lacked some skill. Moving on.

but **** this. somehow the wild will pull off an upset today injury ridden or not.

Thought Q had a horrible game behind the bench. Not sure what he sees in Stahlberg or Pisani. I saw some players in Rockford who give better efforts than those two. Keith had a goal but other than that "OH MY!!!" Someone inform me he is playing with sort of injury. Seabrook and Kane have been our two best players in the games I've seen lately.

For the record (and I don't care one way or the other) many fans not so pleased how the "jersey off our backs" promotion was handled after the game.

Wow that elbow was blatant. That is almost suspension worthy in the new NHL.

what happened

In years past they have announced each winner individually and the player skated over to receive their jersey. This year the players came out, then all skated to their fan, then left the ice. One player had no winner so he flung his jersey into the crowd.

Wasn't a shining moment for my boy McDick for Brains.

This year was exactly like the year I won my LaPointe jersey, minus the group picture.

Looked like three players didn't have anyone win their jersey. Bolland, Kruger and one other..

I watched and didn't see anything wrong with it. Other than that was a huge loss. Biggest of the season.

FYI Kane was injured on a hit in Detroit. Was no where near 100% today.

I don't have a horse in this race but win or lose you should handle the proceedings with some dignity.

you're right.

I just think this was an especially devastating loss. If I was one of those fans, I would have understood, but that's just me.

I agree. His last four games may be his best four all season. Not one person can pin anything on him thats for sure.

Seabrook as well. What a stud he's been the past 5-6 games as well.

The PP cost us this game. Hands down, no question.

They didn't do that last year either. What happened today is exactly how it occurred last season after the game ended. I remember it because when they didn't do each individual I noticed how much faster it seemed to go.

I think 2 years ago they announced each person and it took a while to get through the entire line of players giving their jerseys up.

I didn't stay around too long but I didn't see any end of season video montage after the jersey exchange. Maybe it happened as I was leaving.

The year before that was the only year they met at Center ice with the player. It's the year I got Huet.

The two previous years it was exactly the same as today. Minus the group picture afterward which I don't think they did today.

Kathy got Frolik today and she was more than happy how it went.
