I can't take the "we lost depth" excuses anymore.

Pitts lost Malkin, Crosby for the last 40 games of the season and didn't have Staal the first 40 yet they still seemed to make the playoffs.

Hossa, Keith, Seabs, Hammer, Bolland (bad back so not so much) and Brouwer had underwhelming seasons. Turco was a bum.

"Depth" does hurt, but for a team up against the cap because they have so many "star" player salaries, and we don't make the playoffs? Enjoy golf season!

Out of the players you mentioned, Seabs was the most consistent.

Turco-- a bum? I think that falls on the coach relying on the rookie on back to backs. Turco made sense financially, and fell into the backup role nicely.

At the end of today, I'll begin playing the cap game with myself (oh goodie-- get me some lube).

Good season boys. 97 points was the cutoff. Is that the new record? Thank you 3 point games.

[edit] Minny ties the game as I posted this.

C'mon Wild.

Just texted the Minny STH that sat in front of us when we went last October that I owe him a beer when we go next year.

Minny played to win this game from the get go. Still amazed had how much more interesting the team has become since they opened their style.

My main point is the people who were using the trading of "depth" as an excuse as to why it would be okay for a bad season.

I suggest you go read Babcocks comments on NHL.com. He disagrees with you and has how many Stanley Cups?

Again go read Babcocks comments. The DEPTH is the number one reason he uses for the Hawks struggle.

97pts is far from a bad season. Are you that out of touch with NHL hockey?

Two teams in the HISTORY of the NHL have failed to make the playoffs with 95pts or more and one of those just happened today with the Dallas Stars.

I'm not sure what you determine as a "bad" season but the Hawks did not just have one. Missing the playoffs or not!

From the "Official" Dallas Star board....

YOU ARE HEARTLESS SONS OF BITCHES! YOU HAD ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO WIN THAT GAME, NO REASON! REMBER US, THE GUYS WHO STARTED YOU GUYS OFF AS A HOCKEY STATE? YOU'RE FUCKING WELCOME! I ALWAYS LIKED MINNESOTA, ALWAYS RESPECTED THEM. AND HERE I THOUGHT THEY FELT THE SAME. I GUESS IM FUCKING SOFT AS WARM BUTTER, BECAUSE IM BECOMING UNGLUED! I HOPE FROM NOW ON NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU DESERVE IT THAT YOU NEVER MAKE THE PLAY-OFFS, SO YOU WILL KNOW HOW TRUE DISAPOINTMENT FEELS. YOU GUYS ARE DISGUSTING, FILTHY, PRIDELESS PIECES OF GARBAGE! EVERYBODY BUT YOUR OWN 15 FANS HATE YOU. EVERYBODY KNEW WE FINALLY DESERVED A SPOTLIGHT, SOME GLORY, BUT EVEN AFTER YOU CANT YOU STILL FIND PLEASURE IN MAKING SURE WE CANT.

The people of Minnesota probably love keeping the Stars out of the playoffs. After they ditched them and went to Dallas. Which we all know likes hockey more than Minnesota. lol.

Ahh the one intangible I wasn't thinking of... Motivations from Minnesotans to keep Dallas out.... Smart.... It gave us a playoff spot... That and Antti Miettinen LOL
