The media is in love with the whole “Ben Johnson did this in Detroit“ thing where they mock us with Warren or Jeanty to mirror LaPorta and Gibbs. Maybe they’ll be proven correct. Who knows? And maybe they go that direction and the guy ends up being an all pro. But I doubt a lot of these draft gurus actually follow the Bears like a real fan and have a deep knowledge of the deficiencies. I doubt these guys really understand how bad we sucked at stopping the run last year. Rarely do these mocks acknowledge that. This guy doesn’t.
If Warren is the guy I’ll give Johnson and Poles the benefit of the doubt. I’ll let it play out. I’ll get on board. But it would make me really nervous. I’m annoyed that we’ve gotten off what the focus should be. (DL/OL) Ultimately all that matters is what Poles and Johnson want. I hope Poles doesn’t forget the constant gashing his DL took last year and it shows with his early picks.
