Top recruits Chris Terry and Matt Falls both committed to duke in December and now 6 months later have arrived on campus ready for offseason workouts and are getting prepared to play in next year's basketball season as freshman. "I remember the first time i met Tex" said Matt Falls, #4 player according to rivals and RSCI, "He had a bright smile and great charisma. He really seemed to put alot of effort into getting kids to play for his program.It was definitely a major reason i came to Duke." "This history of Duke...the winning tradition..the championships..playing in Cameron. Its all magnificent." said #1 overall player Chris Terry. "I was blown away by it all every time i visited campus. I decided i want to be a part of this program and keep the winning tradition of duke going into the future..cant wait to play next season." Season 4 recap

Ok...Duke lost Chris Harris,Jesper Nordegren,Oscar Warren,AND Ty Redmond. They have to be somewhat down this year right(tho they were ranked #8 preseason)? Meh..wrong.Why? Levar Rivers and Razell Daniel blew up. Razell Daniel dominated on offense and defense and continued the tradition of stud PG's for Tex at Duke. Razell's speed and athleticism created some exciting highlights throughout the season. Levar was arguably the most dominant big man duke has had since Jequan Christmas. What was so dangerous about him was his ability to play wing and knock down outside shots. Together Razell and Levar made a nasty duo and Tex invented a play called the "Home Run Pass" which was used numerous times throughout the season. Razell brough up the ball 5-10 feet behind back court and throws a laser to Levar who catches it while running straight to the basket unopposed thanks to the 5 setting a screen on river's defender. Sophomore guard Ray Dixon who got little time as a frosh played a key role on this duke team as well. And freshman Matt Falls also contributed greatly to Duke as he was the guy who knocked down 3's when they needed it. Duke was very dominant during the regular season and it didnt seem like anyone could stop them. In one of the best games of the season, #1 Duke went to Atlanta to play #6 Georgia Tech. Duke and G Tech exchanged the lead throughout the game and G Tech led by 5 with 2 minutes to go and Razell took over. He made shot after shot after shot and sent the game into OT. In OT, Levar Rivers, who had struggled the whole game, exploded and Razell continued to knock down shots. Duke won 97-93 and Razell had 26 points. Tex continued to show he was a coaching mastermind. Duke rolled into the ACC championship to play its archrival UNC. It was a game for the ages and duke and unc played tough. Duke up 4 with 40 sec left turned over the ball and unc made a shot. Then unc fouled chris terry who was not a good ft shooter. He missed a ft and unc took the ball down the court and hit a 30 foot buzzer beater and UNC won the ACC title. This shocked and made duke bitter and hungry. Duke was still awarded a 1 seed and played very well in the tourney. They beat Lipscomb,Cuse,Georgetown,Kentucky on way to another final four. In the final four game vs. OU, Razell put on a historic performance. He had a triple double 15, 11 assists,10 steals. Duke rolled into the NC to take on Arizona. Duke was focused and in this NC rematch from 2001, Duke prevailed again. For the 2nd time in four years, Duke won a national championship, its 6th all time. Levar Rivers had 18 points 11 rebounds 2 blocks and was final four MVP."To win a national championship is magical," said Tex Johnson. But to win 2 national champoinships...wow i mean..i am speechless..i love duke and i love this team and i will remember this forever."

Senior Tyshawn Abrams ready to prove himself

Duke senior center Tyshawn Abrams(above) will be starting for the first time in his career this year. Tyshawn saw little time his freshman,sophomore and junior years due to amount of frontcourt depth Duke has with Ty Redmond,Levar Rivers,Chris Terry, and Adam Jacobson. Now with Levar Rivers and Adam Jacobson gone, Tyshawn will see a dramatic increase in playing time. "I have been waiting a while for this," said Tyshawn. "I am going to go out there and play to the best of my ability and show i deserve to be the starting center. This is my time. Its all up to me. I have to perform." Tyshawn has average 3.6 PPG through his first 3 years at Duke.
