The Bulls defense is stupid

Just like Skiles, he's offensively Special person.
Defense is all he knows, thinks about, dreams about, cares about, eat up and shits out.
His picture should show up first thing when you look up the word defense in wikipedia.

I wouldnt say Special person. I would say defensively fixate/myopic.

He's a great coach but, good grief, step back and see the big picture.

When you think about it, he would have rather played 4 on 5 (because of Bogans) than having any kind of down grade at SG, however slight. And it's kind of hard to argue for Bogans considering he's no longer with the team.

If he's so effective at coaching team defense, what's the big deal with bringing in someone who's a better offensive option?

I assume Thibs is thinking good defense leads to transition offense and easy baskets. But I agree, he needs to focus more on the halfcourt sets or bring in a coach that knows offense like he knows defense. Those droughts where we can't hit a shot for 5 or 6 minutes are infuriating to watch.

Is it coaching or choice in personnel? Before you answer remember how insistant he was about starting Bogans, which is like 4 on 5 even though he plays good defense. The scheme is so good it turns medicre/bad individual defenders into good/great team defenders. Its amost a waste of scheme.

Well what I said wasn't comprehensive or anything, I was just trying to explain a possible reason for why he would state defense as the reason for poor offense. I think Thibs is insistent on defense to a fault. Starting Bogans in order to "keep the chemistry" or whatever the excuse was dumb. Brewer could have provided the same defense and more offense while also being able to be on the floor for more minutes. The problem was, Brewer couldn't shoot last year, but neither could Bogans so offense was lacking either way. Brewer was still the better offensive player, and overall just better, but since he had that injury coming into last season, I can understand the initial decision to go with Bogans. But once Brewer was healthy, he should've replaced Bogans.

i have no problem w/ their defense. Its their offense or lack of it which makes me worry. Specially now we don't have Rip and CJ it's like Bulls from last year.

Yes he does.
Bogans is the past, Smith is the future.

I am 1010% positive and I garentee JR Smith will be a Bull.
Don't ask me how I know, I have insider sources with both JRs people and Gar's.
So basically, they already have a jersey made up for him....Its as good as fact and done.
Sorry, its true........So basically you guys should stop bashing him because he's one of us now......or will be very soon.....:troll:

Last night was the 4th time this season they've held a team to under 75pts. (Atlanta, Detroit, Washington & now Toronto). Even if those teams are sorry, that's still impressive. Each of those teams is averaging 85+ ppg this season.

IF Chicago can maintain this defense during the playoffs, then yes, they stand a heck of a chance bringing the title back. Let's start the playoffs 1st though before we start talking championship/beating Miami.

Sorry but Bogans from last year provides a window to Thibs' soul.

I wouldn't automatically dismiss JR Smith. He's a knucklehead but sometimes guys change when they end up on a team with a good lockerroom, which the Bulls seem to have.

It could turn out bad. It could also simply be more frustrating for Thibs. Just because having Smith might be frustrating for Thibs at times doesn't mean it's bad though. Dennis Rodman was frustrating at times and that's probably an understatement.

When you look at the Nuggets, playing in a lockerroom with Kenyon Martin, Carmelo Anthony, and Birdman, it's understandable how guys might not be discouraged from being a knucklehead.

It's true that Smith might do stuff that loses games. But, again, that might go back to having a good lockerroom. And if he's screwing up, you can simply pull him out. But lets also not forget that the guy takes over games when he's on. Rose and Smith could potentially be the best fastbreak in the NBA. If/when Chicago turns the ball over, Smith is at the other end of an alley-oop like it's nothing. He also can create his own shot.

I think if you're worried about JR Smith, you could bring him off the bench when your starters are having a dry spell and he can also buoy the scoring of the second team.

Yeah, it could be bad...but it also could be a great addition. I like Hamilton's resume better than Smith's, but that doesnt mean he's the better player now.

I'm not sure how much weight you can put in that given that of those 4 teams are bad (Toronto didn't play with Bargnani). Also, you have to consider that because of the compressed schedule, there is a distinct possibility that there are going to be more nights where a team just doesn't have it.

Seriously. This thread.

We hold the RAPTORS without Bargs to 64 points and all of a sudden we're gonna win the championship?

We scored 77 for crying out loud. Do you guys honestly think we are going to outscore Miami if we only put up 77 points against Toronto for crying out loud.

We're gonna get torched in the Eastern Conference Finals again if we don't start scoring some points as well.
