The thing about Brewer and Korver is that they have upside over T-Mac. Korver is much better off the ball and a much better shooter. Brewer is much more athletic, better on defense, and takes high percentage shots.

Smith doesn't much upside over T-Mac because he rarely even uses his athleticism because he is busy putting up contested shots. I'm not basing this on nothing but the stat sheet. I've seen both of these guys play often enough this season.

I'd say T-Mac is still the "best" player of all of those guys because he still has the ability to get into rhythym and score. He isn't completely depleted of his jumping ability either. He just doesn't have much explosiveness anymore.

And T-Mac is a way better passer and playmaker than any of those guys.

But again, I'm not saying T-Mac is still on All-star level or that I'd want him on the Bulls. I'm just saying that I'd rather the Bulls had him than Rip Hamilton- especially considering the money.

What the heck are you talking about? Not only is JR Smith a better player than McGrady, he is a better player than Korver and Brewer! And what upside does Korver have at this point? He is 30 years old! They are who we signed, they are not getting any better as basketball players. JR Smith is 25 years old! Boy oh boy...I don't know what the heck you are watching but you are WAY off. And who gives a damn if TMac is a better playmaker...that is not what they need, an old ass has been used to be playmaker...who plays small forward. And at this point he cannot run an offense better than JR Smith can. He is not as athletic and he cannot defend on the wing as well as Smith. Not even close.

I'll take McGrady's 5 points on 47% shooting (in less minutes) over J.R. Smith's 12 points on 39% shooting.

I'll grant you that, at the same price, I'd prefer Smith over T-Mac simply because he would be a better fit with the Bulls. But he's still a chucker, and I believe McGrady is still the better player.

in my opinion, T-Mac is a better player than Smith, Korver, and Brewer. But the reason the Bulls did not want McGrady is simply because they prefered having a shooting specialist and a quick defender who takes only high percentage shots.

Even though Korver and Brewer are nowhere near as talented as Smith or McGrady, I still prefer them on the Bulls because of the extra dimensions they give the team.

No matter how many times you say it, Smith is still the better player & I still want nothing to do with either of them. This thread is so amusing in its absolute ridiculousness. Keep laying the hammer down Hou!

Oh give me a break. J.R. Smith is not even the 7th best player on his own team if everybody was healthy.

1. Anthony, 2. Billups, 3. Nene, 4. Lawson, 5. Harrington, 6. Affalo, 7. Martin, 8. Smith

Man, I swear you make up s--- as you go. They didn't get McGrady because HE CAN'T PLAY!!!!!!!!!

McGrady is a non factor who will most likely retire in a few years. He plays just like Penny Hardaway did after he suffered major injuries. J.R. Smith is a better player right now plain and simple.

Hamilton, Stuckey, Gordon, Charlie V are all better players than McGrady right now. Teyshaun and Bynum too. And that is on a sucky team...and you want him on the Bulls? And he is the 4th or 5th best perimeter player on the Pistons? Give me a break man...

I'm the one making up stuff?

I did not say that I wanted him on the Bulls... I said that I'd rather have him than J.R. or Rip because if his contract. And I also happen to believe he is still the "better player" (as little as that matters).

this is like arguing who you'd rather have on the team asik or kurt thomas. who cares? smith is clearly the better player in every facet of the word. mcgrady is making a 1 million somethign smith is making 6 million, and he's on the last year of his contract. it's not like he's on a gilbert arenas contract.

with T-Mac, we would have gotten all this unwanted attention and hype.....for a dude thats realistically a 7th man or 8th man off the bench.....it would be all TMac all the time....he plays 5 minutes today, 17 minutes tomorrow, 8 minutes the next day

Thibs is trying to build a culture of hard work and not hype

thats just my though
