I would like to know the context of the survey and what is considered "understanding" evolution. Also would like to know if it was a broad level or specific education range(s).



Darwinisim has been challenged by not just religious groups, but also by other scientists (as they should). The human assimilation of bacteria into the body has explained or trumped some of the Darwin concepts I was taught in grade or HS; and while taught to some capacity at the college level, I am not sure if it is taught in the K-12 realm.



Seems like the studies' goal was to make religon into the culprit....

Who runs the education depends on the region and level of education. I can tell you from personal experience that grant dollars can drive what is being taught by a particular department....sometimes with solid research from the grant money and sometimes to keep the grant money coming in.
