It's a Friday before a holiday weekend so naturally I'm being unproductive. Has anyone seen this before? It's terrifying to think about. At the rate we are going the world sounds like it will be a shit hole come 2045. I'm not even going to be able to enjoy retirement at this rate. I don't really have a point to my post, but wanted to share.

Google how much plastic we're dumping in the ocean. Horrifying.

But hey, we're consumers. We don't worry about the fact humans won't last another 100 years.

Because Abe Vigoda died? I did a google search, I find nothing important about that date.

Did your cult leader tell you that would be the end?

Yes he did... on January 25th 2006, at the sun dance film festival.

As solar, wind, and geothermal continue their march towards profitability I think that we may see a phase shift in the way we get our electricity.

Instead of Coal and Natural gas powered plants being the center point that is then sent out to the homes, the homes can become individual generation points that operate to supply themselves and help maintain neighbors etc.

Also things like Wind farms and Solar farms can be used effectively in places near where I live in New Mexico where we have plenty of land and plenty of both sunshine and wind.

I hate the design on those stupid wind turbines, and am hoping to see some engineers come out with something more efficient and easier to maintain. but subsidies gunna subsidize.

You look at France almost completely off carbon using nuclear and it seems worth looking at.
I know that's a bad word but new technology is making strides.
Was reading how the new designs burn the waste from the old ones.
Pretty interesting... I would love to see America off oil and coal.
As for the minors... Build some plants and train them to work there.
I'm not looking to put families out of work but must change with the times.

Nuclear is hotly contested.... but I would prefer using it to get us off fossil fuels for electricity generation and at least bridge the gap to using stuff like Solar/Wind/Geothermal on a larger scale.

30% of Iowa's energy comes from Wind with that number coming closer to 40% in the next few years. Enough to power 6.3 million homes. They are all along I-80 which goes right through the middle of the state. Farmers rake in the tax credits for each turbine that is put on their land. It has contributed to 11.8 billion towards the states economy. They look ugly, but there isn't much else to look at besides corn lol.
