No, I don't think they would. This is jmho, but Deng and Hinrich posess far more talent than anyone I think they're going to be able to sign in FA.

I can't disagree with the emboldened, but they aren't going to want to take on Deng's massive contract for years while they are still dealing with Turkoglu's. Same with Hinrich while they have Calderon's contract and Jarrett Jack... it's simply not happening.

If I was a Raptor fan, I'd be P-i-s-s-e-d if they traded for Deng and Hinrich.

How are they shooting themselves in the foot?

Would you rather take Deng/Hinrich or have a chance to sign Durant/LeBron/Amare/Howard in the next 2-3 years.(And even more players)

Would you rather shed cap to get ready to potentially land 2 of those huge superstars? Or add on to that cap and make you bottom feeders for years to come?

It depends on whether or not those FAs are willing to come to your team. There's ALWAYS going to be teams under the cap enough to afford 1 or 2 huge contracts. Why would they choose Toronto? Bosh wants out...Hedo went there and sucked...nobody cares about basketball in Toronto, and haven't since VC won the dunk contest.

I don't think they have any interest in both, but really, who WANTS to go to Toronto?

So because no one wants to play in Toronto. Toronot's management will take on our terrible contracts, give us their best player, makes us a dynasty and make themselves a terrible team that's in hell cap for years to come.

Just because no one wants to play there.

Do you have any idea how great Steve Nash would be for the Raptors' franchise if they gave him a 2-3 year deal (after his contract expires w/ PHX)? I know he'll be old, but yeah... that's just an example.

Players go where the MONEY is, regardless... if all the players hate Toronto that much then their team will eventually get moved.

I'll tell you who doesnt. Hedo and he could very well be traded, as could their PGs.

Who's to say that Toronto doesnt like Deng? I like Deng, hes a very good player. Ive been saying this... Maybe teams around the league are higher on Deng and Hinrich than Bulls fans are because they arent emotionally attached and pissed about the contracts and underachieving. NBA analysts seem to believe theyre good players and are pieces capable of moving. maybe TOR has talked to all of the FAs and have seen little interest from them. Deng is 25 and an overall good player. Sometimes teams overpay. If you are willing to package a few 1sts with him, maybe they go with it. You just dont know. I wouldnt rule it out.

Toronto: Al Jefferson
Minnesota: Luol Deng
Chicago: Chris Bosh

Lakers: Hinrich
Chicago: Odom

We could then flip Odom.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm just saying, of all the teams that are going to be under the cap, year after year, Toronto is probably the LAST place they'd wanna go. So if they can get someone servicable for their best player, it's in the best inerest of the team to do that instead of just letting him walk and filling your roster w/ other team's cast-offs. But again, I digress.

Minnesota doesn't want Deng. We tried doing a straight up Deng for Jefferson deal earlier this year and they rejected it.

maybe idk who would take him tho

maybe a team desperate for some big man depth
(haslem)

You say it like hes a bad player. Teams wouldnt have to be desperate for him. Championship contenders could add him or just rebuilding teams. Hes a solid addition off the bench, especially for a team lacking leadership. But if i had to chose between him and Taj, i take Taj because he has a higher ceiling, in younger and cheaper. Haslems jumper is better but Taj is quickly developing a nice post game.

Lol no way man. There's more than just a fine line between pessimism and living in reality...

You make it seem like moving Deng for Bosh is not a possibility. NBA analysts believe its possible, i dont know why some people dont. Youve heard my take. I think Bulls fans emotions let them believe Deng is worse than he really is. If they still have Turk than no way but if they can move him, i see it happening. Turk wants out so thats a start.

You could throw in filler. I believe the offer was Deng and Thomas for Jefferson. The rationale for declining trades mid-season doesnt always apply in the offseason.
