See if you follow this reasoning...

MLB regular season is 162 games, NFL regular season is 16 games...so 10 MLB games = 1 NFL game

A seven-game MLB postseason series would be like an NFL playoff games being 3 quarters long, then declaring the winner.

A five game MLB postseason series would be like an NFL playoff game being a half, then declaring a winner at halftime.

The one game MLB "wild card" game would be like an NFL playoff game lasting 6 minutes, then declaring the winner.

So you can see how easy it is for "underdog" teams to excel in the MLB postseason. Its not really set up to get true results.

exactly

Well, Bud Selig is a moron. So it shouldn't be a surprise.

If the series had gone the full seven games in both leagues the last game of the NLCS would have been on Monday, which leaves a day of travel time before World Series Game One on Wednesday. The series schedules are pretty much set in stone. That's the way it's always been. It allows the teams that clinch earlier to set their rotations better, and if both teams clinch early then both teams can set it up so that they start their aces on plenty of rest. I don't see a problem with that.

Solid points and absolutely right.

The two do not equate. As the old saying goes, anyone can win one game. That's why the NFL has lots of upsets.

We just disagree.

After watching the Cardinals more closely since I am near St. Louis, they are a team that just never gives up and seems to pull off the wildest, most astonishing
wins in the post season. They are a tenacious bunch and recent history shows, should never be ruled out, not even at the last at bat or strike. The series last year against the Rangers just blew me away. Winning is expected and contagious with this team. They are my national league team, and the sorry ass Cubs should look to model themselves like the Cards, and it apparently starts with scouting and the farm system. I used to at least root for the Cubs but divorced myself from them in 2004, that was it ,**** them, they have always been stuck with a losing aura... I have always been a loyal Sox fan tho, and if they only could have had something left in the tank, I would be rooting for them against the Cardinals. Detroit got in after the Sox collapsed IMO. To hell with Detroit, n go Redbirds!
