My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Considering we will have a new GM, $50MM off the payroll, and probably a new manager, I really don't see how you can say that the Cubs won't be a winner going forward. Currently this team has no direction until we get a GM in place.

I hope the Cubs try to get Fielder, but I believe they have less than 1% chance of landing him.

I don't see by what logic that makes any sense. 50 million dollars coming off the books. owner committed to winning. huge hole at 1B. there are signs pointing to us getting him. whether we do or not is a different matter. there is certainly a much higher percentage than that though.

I would agree with that, but I think that he realizes the best way to fill the stands is to have a winning team year in and year out.

That would be different then affordable beer and women in the bleachers.

Honestly. I see us cutting Z and Soriano this off-season biting the bullet to go in other direction.

Put the kookaid down. If it's about winning I'm not sure where the Cubs would rank. 20-25 is probable.

Now if winning isn't important considering the money is close than the Cubs have a shot.

But I see Fielder as a winner unlike current Pena/Lee. And it's not my hatred that says thus it's reality. The Cubs are not an option for winning ball players. Just greedy half effort giving players

It will take time for that culture to change

im not drinking kool aid...but dont you think making the generalization that the cubs are not an option for winning ball players, just greedy half effort giving players seems a little close minded as well as not considering the cubs have had rather recent success(08)...(i will agree some players on the cubs are a bit half assed..but i dont like the generalization)

you could make the argument that "the cubs did well in those years, but it did not correlate to playoff success...and that is what is most important.."

the problem with taking that side(not saying you did though) is that if we take that angle, then the point about prince fielder being a winner becomes moot. What exactly has he won in terms of postseason? You cant have a double standard

look, im not going to preach about how the cubs big market will reel fielder in..its certainly attractive as well as some of our young crop...but of course there's alot of work to do in terms of winning... i also think that fielder may consider winning to be important..but he may(or probably will) consider other factors..not to mention what is the specifics of what he is looking for in winning? winning now? winning later? a good environment, division for winning?

it is unquestionable, though, that fielder would have a profound positive impact for the cubs offense...you also have to wonder how the picking of the new GM will influence this sweepstakes....on a number of levels

All of this losing culture is media bullshit.

Get good players and the right staff.

You win. No "culture" that is bullshit.

What winners have they gotten?

Fielder is not a double standard at this point. He might be but he is not

Why not hire Charlie Sheen? He brings #winning and women. You'll have to substitute the beer for coke though.

It all depends on the next GM. If they want to win now then A-Ram is a must. If they plan on going younger then yes he is done with Cubs
