Seems as though there needs to be some clarification on what the difference is between rap & pop rap. Here are some examples of pop rap:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdsfG5-Fve0]‪B.o.B - Nothin' on you feat. Bruno Mars (High Quality)‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k53UO28oaCE]‪I Need A Doctor- Eminem ft. Dr. Dre & Skylar Grey [Lyrics]‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI8mWaeEHcI]‪Wiz Khalifa - Roll Up [AUDIO]‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldOzPqAtDYQ]‪Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On (clean) [HQ AUDIO, DOWNLOAD LINK]‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGT6AKt3eYM]‪Eminem ft. Rihanna - Love the Way You Lie (song + lyrics)‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

There are much more examples of this but 5 should be enough.

Pop rap has one consistent theme with it: Usually an up tempo bouncy beat & some (no racial) white girl singing on the hook. Rihanna can suffice since she's pop. & Bruno Mars is pretty much pop too.

It's all good... everyone has their taste in music.

I was just stating mine :) I am well aware that hip/hop & rap are very popular so obviously a lot of people like it!

I consider most shit on the radio to be rap.

Stuff like Jay-Z, Common, Kid Cudi, Nas, stuff with true lyrics...to be Hip-Hop.

Hip-Hop > Rap

Rap is the lame shit you hear on the radio talking about the club, rims, bling, etc.

first of all are you talking about hip hop or rap?

second of all, if you consider hip hop trash..then you really need to open your mind to new ideas

if you dont thats your opinion..but i bet half of you guys that are dismissing this relative field of music barely listen to it at all...and therefore you are being pretty ignorant lol

as rush said, not all "black music"(whatever you want to call that genre)..some of it is cussing garbage(you know what im talking about) and some of it is really creative and interesting..really rhythmical..

but if you want to completely dismiss it all because of stereotypes and your generalizations then whatever..but dont act like you know what you're talking about

let me get into this. love hip hop, but some of the new rappers are just soft. Lupe was decent before Laser, now hes just a whinny *****. J Cole is soft, "raps" about feeling and his lady n shit, gtfoh. B.o.b is alright but not rap, not my cup of tea though. Chris Brown?? I s he a rapper/HipHop?, hell No. Soft ass n*gga, catering to females. Mac Miller, this is what happens when middle class white boys rap, SWAG!, lol. Drake has a vagina. Lil B, dude named his cd, "Im ***", confused he is, cuz he tries to go hard on a track and then does some soft ass shit. Wiz is the only one, ive turned on, hes been steppin it up, after that wack ass Black and yellow.

Lupe still has it, it's just that the label he's under is holding him back. You have to dumb things down before you release them.

J. Cole is probably the most underrated rapper out right now. If the only song you heard from him is "In The Morning" with Drake then you haven't listened enough. If you're only gonna listen to one listen to the last one...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX8IUhQqOOk]‪J. Cole - 2Face (Friday Night Lights)‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76aEt6EenOE]‪j Cole - 15. Premeditated Murder - Friday night Lights‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N4iVpCOap4]‪J. Cole - The Good Son Pt 1‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

I honestly don't see what's wrong about rapping about your lady though. What you can't be "hard" and have feelings for the female in your life? lol...

Chris Brown never was a rapper -- out of left field with this one.

Mac Miller, never got into him. He sounds too much like Wiz.

Drake has good songs but I don't like him that much. He's overrated and over hyped.

Lil B is a joke.

Wiz...you've got it backwards. Wiz got WORSE with his mainstream studio release. His older mixtapes with Curren$y along with Kush & OJ and Cabin Fever are good mixtapes.

This can be said about any type of music. Just calling people ignorant because they don't listen to every single song in the genre is pretty standard.

I am sure you could reach into the depths of rap music and play a song that I would say doesn't suck. But what good does that do? If there is one new rap song that I like does that mean that my opinion of the entire genre will change? nope.

With that being said I grew up listening to rap music, and will still pop in some old albums (Anything by Nas, Nelly's first few albums and a few others), but as a whole I think the genre is garbage. I don't belittle people who listen to it, i just prefer not to... is that ignorant? You be the judge. But I will not sit and listen to 100 songs I hate to maybe find a random song I enjoy.

i never said you had to listen to every freaking song...and again dont mix hip hop and rap..they are different...

i think its ignorant to think its garbage but not have listened to the music much..so if you HAVE listened to the music a bit and think its garbage..thats fine with me...your opinion..but dont make generalizations about music you havent listened too thats what pisses me off
