but can you write up a cliff notes version of imposter.. i get the gist of it fru da title and trailer... but what be da deal? was da imposter da murderer or juss some crazy bored foreign guy.. and what be happens to da kid

Part of the charm of the film is for the director to reveal the answers in his own way. And yes, check out American Movie ASAP! I own the film, and I have even watched the horror movie that the main character created. It came with the dvd...mane

For anyone who has watched and enjoyed either The Jinx or Making A Murderer, there is a docu series called The Staircase which I believe is better than either of the two mentioned. I believe it is an 8 episode series, but once you start watching it, you will not be able to stop. The film documents the trial of famous american author, Michael Peterson. He is being accused of murdering his wife, and his life is chronicled as the trial is going on. The director has full access to Peterson's life. You get to see it all. You can see him strategizing with his lawyers, get to go through all the twists and turns of the trial along with him(and believe me, there are some UNBELIEVABLE turns in the case. You even get to witness his home life with his children. His children obviously believe their father, but there is just something off about seeing a guy accused of murdering his wife just having a normal conversation with his kids at home. This docu series will leave you stunned.

I was watching Inside Job last night... got like 75% thru it before I had to crash...

Good window into the 2008 financial crisis and how/why it happened.... unbelievable how much the people playing the games with our money also get to set the rules and simply walk away from the mess if it goes badly for them.

Didn't only one banker end up behind bars for the 2008 crisis? I'm pretty sure he was a small time player too.

Stuff I've watched in the last week

Inside Job (2008 financial crisis)
Enron Smartest Guys in the Room
The Invisible War (sexual assault in the military)
Bowling for Columbine (Gun violence)
Taxi to the Dark Side (Torture and detainment in War on Terror)

I'm in the middle of Fahrenheit 9/11... not alot in this one I didn't know.

From what I can tell in these documentaries, our govt doesn't give a shit about 99% of us.... our soldiers.... our economic well-being.... but I already thought that.

I watched a new UFO documentary called Unacknowledged on my flight to Paris, it was really engaging until they talked about a secret base on the dark side of the moon, they lost me at that point.

Tell Me And I Will Forget

This film follows EMT's in South Africa to illustrate the out of control violence as well as the disparity between the rich and the poor in the country. The rich use privatized ambulances for emergencies. The rest of the people, on the other hand, have to wait hours or even days for an ambulance to arrive. Often times, people die waiting for an ambulance. Violence has gotten so out of control that women do not have to obey stop signs and traffic lights at night, because they are at risk of being pulled out of their car while they are stopped.

Tell me and I will forget
Teach me and I may remember
Involve me and I will understand

Best of Enemies

The beginning of identity politics, Vidal and Buckley debates 68 conventions. Harbinger of the division to come and remain today. Nice piece of history, and relevant to this day.

There's Something Wrong With Aunt Diane

This film investigates the 2009 Taconic State Parkway crash. 36 year old Diane Schuler was driving a van with her daughter, her son, and 3 nieces. She was driving the wrong way for almost 2 miles at 80 mph until hitting an SUV head on. All 3 in the SUV died, and everyone in the van died except for her son. She was found to have alcohol and marijuana in her system. Her husband denies that she was intoxicated, and focuses all of his energy on defending his now deceased wife. The film chronicles what actually happened that day step for step to try to figure out what really happened. It's also heartbreaking watching the husband trying desperately to refute the toxicology results.
