You just described David Montgomery, the power back in Johnson's Detroit offense. Hampton has been described as Montgomery with a burst. If Jeanty is at 10 you would take him, but I don't think he will drop that far.
Yeah and Dave was like a fourth rounder because he can't hit the home run. That's fine, just not at 10

Not allot of luv out there for the big D-Linemen coming out. Grant would be great. I do believe he is the reason for Mason Grahams success. Both are good players, but Grant is a monster, and is still growing yet. He would be a great anchor for the D-line for many years to come. Everything starts upfront. I also believe, they could be more flexible on defense, over time, the better he gets. Playing in the cold, should not be an issue either.

Actually, Montgomery was drafted in the third. Hampton is faster, and much more explosive.

I would hope it would be DL...............but I could understand if Poles/Johnson choice a RB.

Not that they can't play or will not be first round picks but..................Two guys who absolutely don't fit what Johnson/Allen is looking for in a DE.
i keep hearing this, and dont get me wrong...its worth taking into consideration

but youre telling me that dennis allen cant find a way to use a guy that led the nation in pressure % 2 years ago and finished 2nd in pressure % this past season??

then allen aint that great if he cant use him IMO

Yeah passing on better players for guys that are your ideal prototype is dumb and pretty much never works out. If you can’t make a player like Pearce work, then that’s an indictment on you as a DC.

Speaking of Pearce, what’s up with your boy? Been hearing rumors that there’s character concerns and they have to put the hannibal lecter mask on him around outsiders, but haven’t seen anything specific. Is this Bull crap or does he really have issues?

agreed. even if you dont play him in a prototypical DE spot. hell, tennessee didnt play him at a prototypical DE spot, they had him playing the Star position or whatever, where they moved him around a bunch to create matchups

as far as these character allegations, ive never heard of him being an issue in Knoxville or hard to deal with. That doesnt mean he isnt a head case, ive just never heard of it until this pre draft stuff came out.

to me, it sounds like some kids he went to high school with that dont like him trying to knock him down a peg or two at one of the most important times of the young mans life(draft position can change millions of dollars from your future). but again, i certainly have no evidence one way or the other

i do kinda like the thought of needing to keep him masked up like that...makes him seem that much more ferocious on the field lmao

Yeah he should totally wear one…that’d be hilarious lol

Pearce Jr is probably the most underrated player in the draft right now….when I hear people talking about drafting Stewart or mykel Williams over him I want to vomit….theyre both so inferior to Pearce it’s not even funny.

After Carter it’s neck and neck between Pearce and Mike green as the 2nd best pass rusher in the class. I do like princely a lot too…he’d be #4 for me….i do think there’s quite a big drop off after those guys

Carter
Graham
Jeanty
Membou
Warren
Campbell

All gone by 10. Who do you draft?
This draft sort of feels like there's three tier-one guys (Ward, Carter, Hunter) and six tier-two guys (Graham, Jeanty, Membou, Campbell, Warren, Walker) in total. And, of course, the Bears hold #10. General philosophy on drafting high in round 1 - don't let need override talent. If Allen believes he can utilize Walker's talent in impactful ways, then the Bears should take him. That's simple enough. But if Walker isn't going to fit in what Allen wants to do, then it's just drop down to whomever the Bears have at the top of their next tier of players. I would guess there's probably a bunch of players they'd rank similarly at that point, so need and positional value can carry more weight. I'd guess Banks or Grant fit the need aspect best, and would give Grant the nod because of Banks somewhat meh athleticism.

I'm not even sure Jeanty is truly worth a top ten pick. Definitely don't think Hampton is.

This is a really, really deep RB draft. Wouldn't this be a poor allocation of high draft capital?
I would rather have Hampton than Jeanty.

Sanders is going before 10. So that would leave one of your top 9 guys.

Sure, I hope Sanders goes somewhere in the top ten. But my brain is telling my heart "nope, not gonna happen". Sanders adequate-to-low-end arm strength and marginal athleticism combine to sound like a really crappy top-10 investment. All of the QB-desperate teams in the top 9, the except for Tennessee, now have a veteran stop-gap QB on their roster and can wait to later in the draft for a QB. To me, Sanders is feeling more like a late round-1 flier for someone, unfortunately...

His stats of completing almost 72% of his passes at Colorado behind a lousy O line is impressive.

I would take Walter Nolen in any scenario. One of San Francisco, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh or Denver is going to take him in round one.

One of those teams is going be thrilled to have Nolen who is going to be the best defensive lineman in this class after Abdul Carter

Did you actually watch his tape though, it’s not great. ESP against top edge rushers. Much rather have Josh Simmons than Banks, even with injury history.

Simmons would be ideal in a trade down. He becomes your swing tackle and likely takes the job from Jones for the next decade on the left side imo.
I doubt he lasts a decade.

Exactly… if Allen can’t use a great pass rusher, then he’s not that great at his job. My answer is Green, Pearce, or Grant.

Treat Ken Grant like found money. Pick up that bill and quietly put it in my pocket without trying to make it too obvious.

Mike Green would be tempting…

All gone by 10. Who do you draft?
1.) Grant
2.) Trade back 5-10 spots to draft Emmanwori or Green
3.) Trade back 10-20 spots and draft Hampton, Simmons, Banks, or Burden
