Why doesn't Scoot tell you that you're better than this?

Marinara gravy..Thats the way I always spelled it...without the typos...lol

I just looked..I DID spell it wrong

I am Italian (so therefore my word is law on this matter....jk) and my family only calls it sauce. Although, technically speaking a "gravy" is derived from meat drippings. That being said a meat based tomato sauce could arguably be considered a gravy or a ragu. Above where bb calls a marinara sauce a gravy he is unequivocally incorrect. It is nothing other than a sauce in any situation. It could be that his family growing up called it a gravy but that would be equally as incorrect as his family calling his toothbrush a butt plug although they may smell the same :)

I was making tomato gravy (actual tomato gravy, not sauce) and thought about this thread. Glad to see it's still around.

At the risk of insulting the Italians many Indian cultures (East & West) whom get their influences from the all over the world do have vegtarian curries which are considered a 'gravy'. I'm unsure if there's a slight transulation gap between Italian to North American English or Indian to North American English, but there appears to be no clear answer.

In closing if the Italians are not insulted pasta was 'invented' in China.
