There is nothing I want more than to see the Bulls win. I’ve been passionate about the team since the early 80’s. With the possible exception of the Chicago Bears, the Bulls bring diverse groups of people together better than any other team. And in my 35 years, BG is one of the 5 best players I’ve seen in a Bulls uniform. He’s been a primary reason why we turned around 6 years of losing. Yet according to recent poll, 43% of the fan base doesn’t care if he walks. I hold members of the media responsible for this fact.
I feel that people in positions of power have a responsibility to the fans. People like Neil Funk, Steve T. Gorches and Harry Teinowitz influence and shape the opinions of the fan base more than anyone on this site. To deliver inaccurate and incorrect information to so many people enrages me. I feel the need to point it out to the few who listen to our show. Those who I deride do not hesitate to wreck havoc on the reputions of players I admire. Their actions/comments/ deserve derision “eye for eye“. The Hinrich-lovers have called me much worse for my critiques of the Beloved Captain, and I’ve heard them on other shows, in emails, in public, etc.
As an adult, I’m open to constructive criticism. Our audio quality stinks, and it will be addressed. But in regards to the content of what I said, Harry and Carmen painted a picture that Kirk’s reaction to Rondo somehow changed the course of the game, despite the facts that:
a. Immediately after the scuffle, the Bulls were outscored 31-22. They were outscored for the rest of the game after that fight, despite Harry calling it the “turning point” and offering no facts to back it up.
b. They painted a picture that Kirk had a great game. He was 4-11 in 43 minutes. They never once mentioned his blown layup at the end of the third OT, which almost cost the series. With Gordon on the bench due to foul trouble for much of the game, Kirk’s primary defensive assignment scored 51 points. Ray Allen would have scored 51 against anyone that game, but ignoring that fact is pathetic.
c. Harry also called out the “Ben Gordon Lovers” during that show, saying that he didn’t have an influence on the game. The Bulls were outscored 23-3 in the 4th, with Ben on the bench. I proved proof in a previous post that Ben did have an influence on the outcome, by providing Miller with the key open 3 that sent the game into OT.
d. Kirk’s reaction was a correct and justified reaction to a complete jerk move by Rondo, one that I would have expected from any other Bull with a competitive spirit. Why make it more than it was?
I like to live in the world of facts, and I describe statements contradictory to fact for what they are: buffoonish, idiotic, etc. I wouldn’t dare get on a national radio show and talk about horse racing. If Harry was a true professional, he might try to watch a few Bulls games.
RTBlues, I am deeply saddened by your declaration. This is a free country, and you’ve chosen to announce your displeasure with me to our little community. You’re not the first or the last. It will not stop me from expressing my displeasure with injustice. I find it theraputic. If I’ve influenced 5 people to look at this team and the media that covers it differently, then I’ve succeeded. I think I have. But I’m going to hold you to your word by backing up your statement with a lifetime ban, regardless if Jordan comes on our next show or not. Any attempt to download the Bullseye will result in your computer blowing up, and Bullseye authorities sending you to a North Korean prison.
Good luck and Goodbye.
