For the old timers.......

I watched the game on a TV with a cathode ray tube.
We didn't use the phone during a game, because the cord wouldn't reach the TV
No way to look up stats until the newspaper published them the next day
If you didn't record the game with a VCR, there was no way to replay it. DVDs weren't invented yet
I recorded the Super Bowl Shuffle on cassette from the radio to play on my boom box
Big hair was in, and the mall was full
Gas and cigs were under a buck, and a kid like me could buy them from a machine
Computers were expensive as ****, and couldn't do shit
Chevy Camaro. Pontiac Firebird, and Mustang GT were the coolest cars
You could get a big ass pizza for under $10

What else ya got?

the 46 wasnt exploited fully just yet.
sweetness had his feels hurt..
mccaskeys scared of ditkas manhood and rex ryans right cross..
ramens were 5cents. 4 tacos for a dollar.
i watched the game on a tv that weighed more than a car and little did i know what would follow in the coming decades.
rap was a fad.. even the corny ass bears dropped some cringe..

I remember one of the telecasters saying, "We're watching men play boys," as the game quickly turned into a rout.

Pretty amazing picture if you could see through the haze of cheap cigar smoke.

Oh yeah, we could smoke indoors back then too

I remember going to Guitar Center as a kid and smoking in there with the salesmen.

There was a bar on Clark Street that used to have $0.25 beers on Wednesday nights. We did that after every Hawks or Bulls game we went to at the old Chicago Stadium. A $5 purchase loaded up a tray of beers. Good times!

You used to be able to smoke on airplanes and each seat had an ash tray. I was freshly out of college in '85 and people used to be able to smoke at their desks in their offices or cubicles.

Did you ever see a Bears game at Wrigley? What a cluster **** that setup was.
Nope, I'm not that old. Definitely watched some Cubs games there before the lights

I miss how cheap sporting events were back then. A parent could afford to take their kid and his/her friends to a game back then without being wealthy.

There was a time back in the 70s when Fridays were Ladies day at Wrigley. Women got in free. My mom and sisters used to go a lot given that. I enjoyed second balcony tickets at Chicago Stadium for Hawks and Bulls games. They were quite economical as I was a high school and then college student.

I remember when Chicago Stadium was a rough neighborhood.
It's funny when the media talks about how rough Chicago is. I'm like, You guys weren't around here in the 70s and 80s

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
I was in 6th grade. I just turned 50. ****. The age no big deal, the gap in years between SB wins, shoulda won in 06 and 11. Dammit.
I should also say I didn't flunk or get held back so those are a lot of years in between

I feel bad for you. Such formative years, and I'm sure you thought the Bears would always be that way and that we'd own Green Bay forever.
