My friend's wife will always phrase her food order as a question when we go out to eat. She always puts the phrase "Can I have the...?" before whatever she's ordering.

We always tell her, what is the waitress going to do, say no you can't have that?

My girlfriends daughter says this before every question she asks. We've told her several times that she doesn't have to announce that she has a question, just ask it. She usually remembers for about 5 minutes then goes right back to announcing her desire to ask a question

I also dislike the ... "Guess what?" game. I usually take my 18 year old on a wild 15min expose on whatever's on my mind as I guess all sorts of random crap, before I let him get to his real question.

Verbal / grammatical errors (such as "irregardless" and "for all intensive purposes") I kind of find mildly amusing. I don't say anything, but it generally doesn't "drive me insane". Formalism / usage in written word and dialogue is an area that I typically don't fixate on with other people. What does drive me absolutely bat shit insane, is the inability many seem to possess in terms of critical thinking skills. In other words, I don't care if someone is superficially a dumb ass, but it bothers me if they actually are one.
