it really doesnt matter what the standings are as of now. We all know going into the playoffs it is a different animal and that weaknesses get exposed. When teams below you start to make upgrades it starts to balance out the contenders and makes the playing field a bit more even.
To also counter that note, you point to the standings.....did the standings keep the penguins from adding? nope.
