And in Pittsburgh's "defense" -at least they didn't riot when they lost the Stanley Cup to Detroit a few years ago... they might be precious, but they are not to Vancouver levels of "entitlement" yet.

If the Canucks had traded him (Schneider) on any of the occasions when it seemed prudent to do so, they might well have that extra impact player they so desperately need right now to help fill the void created by Daniel’s absence. Instead, what they have is a largely extraneous asset, replacing a perfectly serviceable one at the same position, in order to create the appearance of movement.

Hindsight is obviously perfect, but this is a good point.

Schneider was the ultimate insurance plan.

Now he's just a desperation move.
