I have to say I was surprised Fangio seems to like him. When asked about traits he liked of his projecting to ILB he mentioned the ability to blitz from that position, which is something the 49ers did a fair bit last year with Wilhoite.

Here is to hoping it finally clicks for him but I am not holding my breath. If anyone is going to get the most out of him it is Fangio.

As much as he has been moved around it sometimes takes time to find the right lock to click in. I have the feeling that Fangio is the right key.

i've always felt that he was playing the wrong position in the wrong scheme. but still never felt he was above average. i'll give him the Rodgers sack, breaking his collarbone, right? can't deny him THAT glory. this is really his last shot. i hold out like 5% of my hope that Shea and Cutler can finally put it together. but i'm not holding my breath. would be cool if Shea finally got it going, though.

this sort of horseshit response doesn't belong in the Official appreciation thread bro

yup. i like tribar, but he did get banned from the Sox forum for being a hater, and his hater shit in this thread is not something I can say I'm a fan of.

I think we may finally know what we've got at a few D positions with Fangio. He'll put guys in positions to amplify their better traits instead of fitting square pegs into round holes like the last two regimes. I respect Lovie as a D coach and he had good Ds but he wasn't into adapting his scheme to talent. Tucker had C2 lineman playing 2 gap and his LBs didn't know WTF they were doing for most of his stay.

ND is horrible.
Shea has never looked like a starting NFL player to me, but Fangio seems to think otherwise (at least initially) and i'll differ to him since he has 88833884 times as much knowledge as I do. We will see what he thinks once the pads go on and it's live as that's always been when Shea reveals himself as a non-performer in the past. There are a lot of things that will work themselves out this yr, and we'll have a better understanding of what the Bears needs are going forward in several areas only once we see stuff play out.

As far as Shea being forced into round hole, he was given the opportunity to try to fit into multiple positions, wasn't he? It's almost like I was dreaming the last several yrs and he only played rush end or whatever.

He was never a 4-3 DE and why strong side? Seems the least appropriate of the 3 slots for his characteristics. I'll also defer to the pros but not how I would have done it. It's obvious that he shouldn't have been a 1st round selection at this point but he may still have value. I think we'll know pretty early on this year. That part will be refreshing.

The comment wasn't only about Shea. Allen etc. playing 2 gap? Why was Bostic at mike when he'd be better at an edge, at least in a 4-3? We'd have actually been better if we swapped Bostic and Shea last year. Maybe not but it wouldn't have been worse. Bostic likes to attack and Shea is more reactionary. When you're D line is making gaps, you want your Mike to react to those and not be in a hurry to make something happen. You can let your Sam play strong, attack, pinch an edge and continue to swim around.
