pushing a WR off his route 12 yards down field is the definition of PI.. but if you want to make the argument that it happened before the ball was thrown then OK.. Maybe it should of been half the distance and a 1st down.. This does not change the fact that Mahomes had a shit game

My argument was about the ball not being catchable so telling me he made contact is pointless and irrelevant to the argument. You completely ignored I was arguing it was not catchable not about the contact.

to catch the foot against something so as to stumble

Evans caught his foot on the grass and stumbled so yes by definition he did trip. His foot getting caught on the grass slowed him down and killed the play before the contact from the Chiefs defender.

Finally, on the end zone play PI was not the reason the ball was uncatchable. The ball was too high and too far inside and Evans could not have caught it without the PI. If you are going to call those PI then 2 defenders making contact with Pringle down the field on 3rd and 9 should also be called a foul as I noted in post 18.

  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
  2. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
So is what he is saying is that this is what Mahomes would have looked like if the Bears would had drafted him?

yes you said that the wrong call was made and it should not of been PI because the ball was "uncatchable" and posted a video to back it up.. After further review your argument is moot because Defensive holding should of been called because that happened before the ball was thrown.

furthermore contact is very much relevant because the reason the ball was "uncatchable" was because of the contact. Uncatchable balls are only used when it is a blatantly obvious situation like the ball is 20 yards overthrown or its way out of bounds etc.. this did not fit that criteria.

Evans did not stumble until after his right foot was hit by the defender.. his left foot planted perfectly fine after the drag.. clear case of PI

and lol you posting a Webster's dictionary rather then the NFL rule.. first a mind reader ref and now this? are you just trolling now?

Except defensive holding should not have been called because the video shows the contact was as the ball was coming out. That is precisely why the refs called PI and not defensive holding. You are arguing for a call the refs didn't actually make because it does not apply in this situation. The ball was well over his head. An NBA player could not jump and make that catch. And the ball did in fact land way out of bounds.

You questioned my use of the word trip so I provided the definition. There is nothing in the NFL rules that would explain what a trip is in this context. As Chris Simms noted even if you think those are penalties, most of those plays were not called all playoffs so the point is their were clearly questionable calls hence why the announcers made that point at halftime.

And again if those are penalties then there should have been a penalty on the Pringle play in the back of the end zone so the larger point is about the inconsistency. 2 Bucs players made contact with Pringle and impeded his progress and the end result was 4th and 9.

You are free to believe otherwise. I will just end this by saying most of the NFL people that commented on this during the game disagree with you.

technically D holding should of been called but because you need to watch it on video its unrealistic to expect to get that call right in real time.. But PI was called instead and that was not an "uncatchable" ball by any stretch of the imagination or the rules. I guess you could say that there should be 2 penalties called D holding and also PI in the endzone if you want.. but its pointless to argue this anyway..

There is plenty of NFL rules you could of posted.. like the PI rule that clearly proves what he did was PI and against the rule. And the only thing I mentioned about tripping was that his left foot drag did not cause him to trip and you can see in the video you posted. he tripped after contact was made by the defender.. in fact once you watch the head on shot the defender hit his right foot and also his left one as well.. this is clear PI.

If you want to argue that a few penalties where missed as well then make that argument. But it was a complete blowout so its not like it was a close game here where a call or 2 can swing the game.. 9 fucking points... that is bad 4m territory.

I will leave you with this.. Mahomes played like crap. rather then being upset about it you should be happy. This is probably the best thing that could happen for the Bears. Should be a huge wakeup call for Pace to make sure his OL is a top priority..

1. The ball was thrown as the contact was made so D holding does not apply.

2. There is no need to post the PI rules as our debate is not based on the rules. It is based on our subjective opinion on whether the ball was catchable or not or whether Evans stumbled before contact. The rules wont prove anything on those points.

3. I made that argument as my posts were not just about the refs but the plays KC missed. You are just focusing on the ref angle when the thread title and all the posts detail both Ref mistakes and KC mistakes.

I would note that those calls result in a 21 point swing so 31 goes to 10. I expect some calls to be missed so not arguing they all go in KC's favor. I am saying the fact they all went in Bucs favor is what made it a blowout along with several KC fuckups.

In real time, it looked like the corner tackled the receiver at the legs in response to getting beat. I don’t blame the refs for that call.

On the defensive holding that the announcers said was by the letter of the law but not egregious, I also don’t have a problem with that because the NFL has shown over the past few years that defensive holding is a point of emphasis. Could’ve gone either way, though.

The only egregious call was the uncatchable ball that Brady was throwing away out the back of the endzone, but the ref called it pass interference. But the Bucs were already right there, and there’s a good chance they were scoring a TD anyway.

The calls weren’t nearly as bad as everyone is saying. They’re all judgment calls, but that’s the nature of the beast. You can’t cry foul when you lost by 22 points and kept shooting yourself in the foot with dropped catches and missed opportunities.

As to you point on the OL, it proves nothing because the Bears OL was never as bad as KC in the SB. The Bears OL high for pressures with 4M was 14 not 29.

Agreed hence why I said it was the combination of those calls and KC's fuckups.

The only thing I would note is the Pringle play should have been PI by that same measure then so would have been 1st and goal instead of 4th and 9.

The problem for the Chiefs was that all those plays went against them. If they got at least one or 2 of those calls and made the pmays they could have made then they are right in it. The NFL is a game of inches.

:17 - You can't quite see it on this angle but Mahomes and Hardman not on the same page here on a key early 3rd and 8. Hit that and you are probably looking at points on the Chiefs first drive.

:55 - Mahomes evades the rush which will be a constant theme and flicks it 40 yards downfield on 3rd and 11. Hill's view is obscured a bit by a defender and the ball goes straight thru his hands and hits in the fact for what could have been a TD.

3:39 - Another 3rd down and this time it is the reliable Kelce that drops the pass after Mahomes evades the rush yet again and delivers a good ball.

4:07 - Brady throws a pick but the call is holding. I thought this flag questionable as yes the defender made contact but the WR pretty much tosses the defender to the side. So for me you either let it go or both guys committed penalties on that play. This ultimate led to a TD.

4:17 - Absolutely horrifically dumb penalty by the Chiefs results in 3 points turning into 7 points. Keeping in mind that without the flag on the Brady pick, Bucs would have scored 0 points.

5:47 - Probably the biggest play in the game. This looks like PI in real time but in slow motion, Evans actually trips himself up before the Chiefs defender falls an makes contact. There is just no way Evans was going to catch the ball as he was already stumbling due to tripping himself up before the contact.

5:59 - Brady's check obviously cleared because after the questionable PI call early, the refs double down as this pass by Brady is in no way catchable. To be fair, there was contact here but the ball is like 12 feet above the 6-5 Evans.

It could have easily 10-7 at the half in favor of the Chiefs if Hill comes down with the TD and questionable holding and PI calls don't ultimately lead to 14 Bucs points.

The Chiefs were punched in the mouth from the outset.
