For all intents and purposes the feature allows people to "star" a post since there is no actual "star" rating system for them. Same difference to my mind and since we've always had the ability to "star" or not star entire threads as well as the ability to "star" or not star Members in their Profiles I really don't see what the difference is.
The difference is a lot of people don't know how to use those features yet, thus haven't started complaining about them yet.

Luckily for us all powerful Mods, who are just here to do whatever we want and manipulate you all into doing our bidding because we have nothing better to do than to **** with things here.... we can just change the reputation numbers to whatever we want.

I like to use it as a 'hey nice job' or when I agree with a post and don't want to say 'ditto'.

Also, don't discount how often it's just used as a cheap and easy alternative to get across "LOL".

Sir, you are now off of my Christmas card list!!!

I like to give positives for posts I like for a multitude of reasons....negatives are usually the things that get people riled up. Perhaps positive only? It would be more in line with the star rating system as well.

Oh and I am disliking anyone that does not positive me!

Well, except technically you can "1 star" shit and isn't a one star rating for anything still synonymous panning it?

It feels soooooo grade school.. I get a star for being good and a negative for bad. Does that mean I don't get a graham cracker before nap time?
