Anyone else hate this phrase? They kept saying it in the Atlanta/Miami game tonight.

You know why the team that wins the rebounding battle wins the game? Because both teams typically rebound 70% of their defensive rebounds, 30% offensive, and the team that has more rebounds will typically have more defensive rebounding opportunities because the other team misses more shots.

The team that misses more shots is likely to lose. If they had said the team with the greater defensive rebounding percentage is likely to win, then it would be more meaningful, because it would no longer be a factor of which team has more chances, but which team actually did a better job on the glass.
