Don't use bro at all offline.

I go with "dude"

Exactly what I was gonna say. I never say bro IRL or even online. It's always dude.

Lots of people in NC say beau for some reason. Like at work people will say "Beau, I need that done today"

I'm guessing at the spelling. It's kind like saying boy or bro I guess. It's pronounced like Bo as in Bo Jackson or Dewayne Bowe. But a little more southern.

Are you sure they're not just mispronouncing "boy"?

Like I said, it's like they are saying boy but intentionally pronouncing it beau. And not like demeaning. More like redneck for homeboy.

Okay, I can hear it in my head. I grew up around it. The "bo" blends right into the "I." "Bo'I tell you what..."

The pronunciation is somewhere between "bo" and "boy."

It's definitely a mispronounced "boy."

I have a few cousins that say it sometimes. But the guys at work now say it a lot. I catch myself doing it if I'm around it enough.

Man and bud are two more that a friend and I only started using to mock people and they suddenly found their way into my vocab. I like saying boss too, it upsets people for some reason. When describing girls, it's chicks or broads. They don't like it for some reason. I remember some chick telling me to stop saying chicks, so I started calling her dame.
