Well this will make zero sense to the Americans but for the Canadian posters it has been a historical night for a few reasons



1) The NDP have more seats than they ever have and become the official opposition party. This is huge. Not many thought the NDP would ever become an official opposition party at the Federal level.



2) The Bloc-Quebecois is as good as dead!!! HOOORAY!!!!! They lost something like 44 seats and the NDP has taken over Quebec!!! This is actually very huge news. Quebec has spoken and this time their breaths don't smell like sardines.



3) The Liberal party is being destroyed. Like the Bloc-Quebecois the Liberal party have lost around 44 seats. Phenomenal drop. This could be the death of the Liberal party in Canada? It really is a phenomenal drop from power.





Conservatives will have a majority government for at least 4 years. I am not anti-conservative but I am also not pro-conservative. I am one who supports or doesn't support issues and policies... not parties. I thought it was absurd for an election to be called based on a vote of confidence from the opposition coalition. Well now that they have a majority government at least the idea of a coalition can flushed down the toilet for 4 years (THANK GOD). And the NDP did win big in all of this. We may be on our way to a 2 party system in Canada. Good? Bad?
