I kinda enjoy the skills competition. NBA does a better job with the all star weekend than the other sports do IMO. other than the dunk competition, which the main problem there is the "stars" being too afraid of getting shown up. I love the 3 point contest and always have. the thing the NBA gets about all star festivities is that its all about entertainment....baseball tries making it count towards something and the NFL pro bowl is the biggest joke of all
Skills challenge was cool when Rose won it lol. I've actually done a similar course myself and it's not really that hard. I guess it makes the time at which they do it the most impressive part.

The 3pt contest this year is the highlight of Saturday's activities imo. That's a star studded group and it should be a really tight competition. Too bad the dunk contest hasn't been good in years...it was awesome having both the dunk and 3pt contests be quality.

agreed...the dunk competition used to be THE event of the all star weekend. now its just a bunch of low level athletic as hell small forwards. 3 point contest will certainly be the even this year...go KK! :woot:

I blame Lebron for starting this crappy trend of no stars doing the dunk contest. Everyone wanted Lebron in the dunk contest. Heck, if he entered he'd win by default because it's fan voted. But for whatever reason he refuses.

he definitely gets a good portion of blame...all the other stars of the past at least did it once it seems. imagine though if you could get a lineup of say....LeBron, Dwight howard, kevin Durant, and russ westbrook(names off the top of my head) to all do the dunk contest one year....itd be the most watched event of the all star weekend by FAR, and a star studded lineup like that might make LeBron less of a sure thing to win. course that would be why LeBron wouldn't do it...

Heck even one with just Lebron and some random dude like Nate Robinson (though he's been in far too many dunk contests) would do. Lebron by himself is enough to get people to watch.

nope...last I checked Cleveland is a 1 point fav

only 1 point favorite? That line looks sketch and i feel like vegas knows something. I'm betting Bulls tonight since i feel like vegas is baiting people to take that small line with Cavs and also the fact that we are catching cavs on a back to back

I thought it seemed fishy myself

Honestly I have no problem with this. In fact I think it's a good thing. It gives other players who likely will never be All-Stars a chance to particpate in the weekend and have some fun. I think that's how a good portion of these stars are thinking when they don't enter their names into the contest.

Plus guys, the All-Star weekend is an exhausting tour for these star players. There are interviews, camps, appearances, and all other manner of league mandated events these players have to be a part of and it can be a bit much. They pack a lot into that weekend.

I suppose that's fair. Who knows, maybe the Greek Freak will wow us.

Well I've always enjoyed the 3 point contest more anyway, since that was my role back on my HS team. Shooting takes more practice to master than dunking a ball. It may not emit "Oohs" & "Aaahs" from the crowd, but it is a far more important component to the game than a reverse tomahawk slam. :smug:

I agree. But who doesn't love a good display of athleticism lol. That's why when they both were good that was the best. You can get the best of both aspects of the game.

yeah the 3 point contest is stacked....potential to be the best one ever

dunk contest i think could be better than we're expecting....LaVine and Dipo i think will have good dunks but im not a fan of guys over 6'6/6'8 dunking (Plum, Giannis)

atleast its no gimmicks like east vs west and i believe judges will vote the winner not fans

Oh Lavine is in it? That'll make it better. That guy definitely has some dunks. Oladipo should be solid as well like you said. I was skeptical of Dwight in the dunk contest initially, but he wowed me. Perhaps Plumlee or Giannis can do the same.
