I’m 100% sure this is a bad hire. You can screenshot this bookmark it whatever you want.
It is odd that you are so vehemently against this. I’m sure you have your reasons though.

lol this is really a terrible hire. Went to university in Indiana half my friends are Colts fans they fucking hate the guy.

Remember how much we all loved fangio and didn’t want him to leave? That’s not how Colts fans feel.

not the end all be all but pretty damn telling

They also wanted Sirianni out and he did well in Philly.

At the end of the day, the fans know shit. The Colts were putrid defensively until he got there

They are not mutually exclusive man. Both the offense and defense were terrible.

on offense you can blame Wentz he’s a scrub. What’s the excuse on defense? They are loaded on that side of the ball

Define loaded? Buckner and Leonard are studs. Moore and Stewart are good. They don't have any edge rushers. I'm not saying the defense isn't good, but it's far from loaded.

Regardless, he's been hired as a head coach, not a defensive coordinator. They are different jobs.

Bears fans were shitting on the 4th ranked point defense in the league in 2019.

But i want to hear what @pablovi thinks. Someone let me know what he says.

Bring in a guy like Ken Dorsey or Mike Kafka for Fields and the offense and this could be a great hire. Time will tell. The guy FLU is supposed to be meticulous and is a great teacher. Something this undisciplined team desperately needs. He was not my #1 guy but I am willing to see what happens and will give him a chance to get it right.
There you go.
If this hire is a genius plan to open OC for a Ken Dorsey or Pep Hamilton, a guy you want in on first but isn’t ready to be a HC…

I can be appeased.

LOL Pep's list is long because he never held a single position for more than 3 yrs, 8 of them for a single year.

Pep as head of offense as OC
College 5 yrs( 3 at Howard and 2 at Stanford)
Pro 3 Yrs( Colts)

Eberflus as head of defense as DC

College 8 years all at the same school Mizzou
Pro 4 Yrs all as Colts DC.

Also, Eberflus never was demoted , did nothing but move up. College asst, college DC, pro asst, Pro DC, Pro HC.

Pep can't seem to keep a job.

The majority of this board wants to see Fields developed as a Qb, You tell us, who's more likely to get that done
Hamilton or the flu?

what my friends are saying is:

-VERY stubborn

-capable of making adjustments, but reluctant to do it (they pointed me to the Colts/ravens game)

-widely considered the guy who dropped the ball against the 2-14 Jags to screw them out of a playoff spot

-simplistic scheme, lack of creativity, Prefers a 4-3 “bend but don’t break” defense (I’ve seen enough of this for 3 lifetimes)

-average quarterbacks known to have career games against the Colts

-ton of talent on that side of the ball, guys not being used to their strengths

-prioritizes a “front 7” as opposed to a “back 7” - this one is up for debate, not necessarily bad thing but it’s a totally different approach than Desai, so he’s probably gone.

Maybe he’s just an incredible leader of men? Idk. But I certainly hope your brother is right haha and I’m wrong…

But if this guy didn’t get hired by the Bears, there is a real chance he would have been fired by the Colts…lol

Thanks..... keep the intell coming ?

Head coaches don't develop quarterbacks. They have way to many things to do to be micro managing their players. That's why they have massive staffs of coaches and assistants.

Not necessary true. That's part of the reason nagy was brought in. He was allegedly a "Qb guru".
If HC was a former Qb, that generally works in the Qb's favor. Heck Doug Pedersen ( x-NFLQb)
won a SB with 3rd string Foles. I could come up with other examples of offense oriented HC's being a help to Qb's

They almost gave up a 30 piece to the worst team in the league, a team that isn’t even trying to win, in a game that would have vaulted them into the playoffs.

I don’t even think the jags had Robinson or their top receiver lmfao but I’ll have to go back and check that last point
What have u heard about the type of defensive scheme flu runs? I've heard "4-2-5 nickel". But I've also heard
cover 2 as soft C-2, "bend but don't break". Smith ran this, I never liked it. I prefer blitzing and Qb pressure.

It is odd that you are so vehemently against this. I’m sure you have your reasons though.

1. His defensive philosophy is outdated. His units performed poorly in pass defense and 3rd down conversion.

2. No plan for offense or staff. This is apparent by the multiple OC candidate reports. Fields is top priority.

3. No prior HC experience on any level. While not a deal breaker I would have preferred an experienced hire.

4. Uses lame acronym cliches to teach, middle management cringe level shit.

5. looks like he is physically ill

I have more but that’s a start.

Way to deflect from the facts when they don't fit your narrative. And I think a majority of this board agrees as you once said:
My friend....winning always matters. Especially SB's.
And since Eberflus was a finalist for 3 HC positions, top guy for at least 2 of them and Pep Hamilton has had nothing more than an invite to interview for an OC position in CAR, a position he found so repulsive he turned it down to stay at a position he may be fired from in HOU, I would say that Eberflus is universally considered more prepared to lead a team to a SB, well universally minus black racists.

Tell me why he was hired over more qualified ppl?
How the **** is Caldwell more qualified? He sucked after manning left and was horrible in Detroit! Harbaugh finally had a very good season at Michigan and had a beat down in the collage playoffs! Nagys experience does not make him a better candidate anywhere!

Management man.
