I really don't think they needed any war or act of terror to spy internally on us. These dang cell phones are perfect for them to look into on any and everything. They didnt need a war for that. Just buddy up with Verizon! Also each big defense and internal law enforcements are completely separate entities. Do you think they all sit in one room and agree in things? They are each the most secretive agencies unto themselves.
Do you work in Govt? I sure have and know many folks very close from all the major players. ALL of them. All good people that answer to Generals and Directors. And trust me when I say they dont play well together inter agency.

If "they" want to hunt down criminals and cave varmits, let em! I'll help!

Look, it is a different fucking world since 911. I get it. And it's sad my kids won't know the freedoms of feeling safe, but you know what? I dont feel like my wife and kids are safe when they go places.
And my wife could carry if she wanted! But she doesnt want to.
It doesnt take away from the fact that these attacks did happen...Someone attacked us. I dont give a **** who it was.

I do wonder if people generally feel safer in other countries though. Like Norway or Sweden? But I feel in general,the world seems to be a more Unsafe place than previous eras.

Weird. I feel safe almost everywhere I go. And when “they” are authorized to do as they please, waive due process, don’t allow lawyers, or notify anyone of detainment if “they” label someone a terrorist or associating with a terrorist organization, that’s a power that could easily be abused. And no one would be the wiser. It’s a very slippery slope. Sounds good if they’re just going after hardened terrorists from Afghanistan or Iraq, or “cave varmints” but I highly doubt that is the case. You give that type of power to the government and only a fool would believe they wouldn’t abuse it.
