It's not just a thunderstorm. It's a derecho, which comes with a little bit of everything. Since derechos aren't easy to predict, nor does our area have a lot of experience with them, it gets under-reported and is very misunderstood.

80mph wind bursts, hail, thunder and lightning, flash floods, and of course tornado potential. Derecho in one path against an opposing derecho is some crazy theoretical supercell worse than a hypercaine.

For me, it was just a tiny bit of wind, thunder, lighting, and a down pour for awhile. As on a storm scale, pretty disappointing to me. (I have a huge love of storms).

Yeah, we don't get the extreme derechos here. Well, not since most of the areas have built up. Before metropolitanization of the areas, the records show some long ass storm paths.

But you're in luck, Scoot. If you still want to simulate the fun of a derecho, you can still take up van surfing.

Rain wasn't too bad when I had to drive through it, but I managed to avoid the worst of it. Seemed to be coming down pretty hard around 7ish. Nothing terrible though.
