This team will never make regular playoff appearances with him under center, let alone when a SB. Theretofore he is a failure. Have there been bigger failures? Sure, but that's not very comforting.

There have been many bigger failures... but this is one stings worse than Cade McNown and Rex Grossman combined- Draft picks that dont work really suck, but when you have a large body of work to look at, and a pattern is out there that highlites his worst faults, yet the team STILL chooses to re-sign him at a massively inflated price hoping he can fix what he hasn't been able to fix for 7 years, then that is willful ignorance on the teams part.

This team was built with Cutler as the foundation, and if he cracks, the entire franchise needs a complete rebuild. And who is going to rebuild it?

I wonder will the Bears give Phil a second coach and QB hire?

For him, he can point to Trestman as giving his stamp of approval to Jay after working with him for a year.
I would imagine Emery does get a second shot at things.

I was LIVID about the Cutler contract.... not just because I have no faith in him, but because doing so destroyed a perfect chance for the bears to rebuild from the ground up while they had some young-ish talent at WR, TE, and running back.
intstead, we get to watch the current group try to piece together a decent team out of the pieces of the Angelo/smith mess.

Seattle, Denver, San fran, New Orleans.... they cleaned house when they fired the old regime and they all rebuilt and became successful in a short period.
The Bears chose to burden themselves with expensive contracts, hire older FA talent to shore things up and win now.... and they fucked it all up.
The bears are facing a serious rebuild in the future and we ruined the rebuild with stupid contracts.

The Heartbreaker showed up in classic form yesterday, complete with shitty pocket presence.

I was a staunch Jay Cutler supporter, but after a horrible showing, and "**** if I care" attitude after the locker room incident, I'm done with his bum ass until he proves otherwise. I'm sorry, but anytime your teammates are silently calling your ass on not protecting the ball after a scuffle in the locker room, you don't go out to a post game presser and get flippant with the press like its funny. That shows not only a lack of respect to everyone on the staff and front office, but to the fans and anyone else watching you.

I truly believe that during this weeks practice, or the next game, BM and a few other people will start getting in his shit. Be it publicly, or privately, it's going to happen. And when it does, Cutler will FINALLY see he is in a crossroads. Either man up, and fix your fuckery, or lose not only your only stern friends support, the respect of the other players, coaches, and the orginization. That's going to be the ego blow that fucking stings so much, he can't brush it off.

I do agree about Cutler needing to man up whatever that means. It really is refreshing to me when a guy who has a shit game(which Cutler did) he says so frankly. What ever happened to guys who say stuff like, I need to play better, I let the team down. I don't blame anyone who booed me out there. Just level with people. Most times they will love you for it. It appears to me that Cutler doesn't have that make-up and it is made worse when he cops an I give a shit attitude.

I will take a less talented guy who goes balls out and is honest over a more talented guy who makes excuses and mails it in. I have been pretty neutral about Cutler since day one. I have defended the guy in the past but come-on. Emery has given Cutler every asset that a general manager could ask for. He also has been given pretty much carte blanche to call whatever he wants to. And guess what...... he has underperformed! That is on him. I think that a lot of the blame of that game rest squarely on his shoulders.

This is going to be a test for Emery. He is going to have to make some tough decisions personnel wise. IF there are slugs on this team, then they need to be benched or cut. And the same thing has to be applied for his coaches. I will ask one question, for example. The Bear's lbs represented themselves well in the Atlanta game in my estimation so why did Tucker start the same guys who have consistently under-performed.

I've also defended Tucker in the past but this is really getting ridiculous. If the older vets are not doing their jobs, then sit them and let the kids play, I say. They will make mistakes but let them at least try and play.

Hawk, the easiest way to send Jay a message is to let Clausen take about 20% of the first team reps this week. When this is going on, Trestman needs to have Jay stand next to him and dissect the play and point out the underneath route that was open that Clausen didn't take. This will only be effective if you tell Clausen to look only at the medium to long reads. If this doesn't get the point across, Trestman will just have to say "Look off the defensive backs as if you're going for a long ball to make them drop back, and hit the Y or H back leaking out. This will force the calls and players up to open the one on ones to the X and Z. That is your assignment for the next 3 weeks."

What bother me is that Cutler never has been benched but when they were in Denver he lost it.
