Tipping

At a restaurant type where you order at the counter but they bring the food to the table, do you guys tip the same as a full service restaurant? Or do you even tip at all?

Never tipped at those....

I am thinking of like Noodle and Co or some of the Burger places where they give you the little card with your number and you display it at your table and then a runner drops your food off.

I don't tip those people.... they come and go so quick I have never considered it as a real option.

Sometimes I just give a dollar. Depending on how much of a nice conversation I had with the person I ordered with at the counter. Most of the time, I don't tip at those establishments.

This sounds like a Chinese buffet type place. Yeah I'll generally tip a couple of bucks if they keep the glasses full, but not the same as a full service restaurant.

It's just a local Mexican restaurant, not a chain.

Not usually...but then again I think tipping has gotten out of hand, recently. I like the idea that it should be gratuity for good service rendered, but it should be above and beyond and not considered part of someone's salary as an excuse for paying less than minimum wage.

Kinda depends on the place. Noodles and Co, nah. But some places will have people refill your water for you so in that case I'll give some amount of tip. Just sorta depends on how much they do besides bringing the food over.

If they are just delivering, no tip. If they have to keep drinks topped off or bus the table afterwards, I usually leave a buck or two a person.

If I go to the counter to order, pour my own drink and bus my own tray then I dont tip.
If Im at a buffet where they bus trays and refill drinks then I will tip 5-10%
Full service restaurant then 10-20%

A buck or two at most in the drop the food take the empty plates and refill the drinks scenario.

Like at Panera I may leave a dollar if I am feeling nice but I never feel obligated.

There is a tip jar in the window of the Taco Bell by me.... you literally stand there, take my money, hand me my change/receipt, and then hand me a bag of food someone else prepared.

Da fuq am I tipping you for? Not to mention that Taco Bell is the 2nd slowest I've ever seen, just ahead of the one by me in college where I waited 35 minutes in a drive-thru line I could not get out of, and then the cashier asked me if I wanted to sell my car.

There's a deli downstairs where I work with the tip jar/tip function at the card reader--but it also has just assorted prepackaged snacks and drinks.

So, if I go in and grab a bag of popcorn and a bottled iced tea, I'm not tipping.

If they make me a breakfast burrito and a latte, then I will.
