Well then that’s what we will be counting on. You can’t have a team full of superstars in one year. Hell, not even 2-6 years. You have to get lucky that all your picks pan out. It is what it is.

Sure... but I don't need them to be full of superstars.... I would be content with just having a line complete with NFL quality starters playing their "normal" position. I would love it if they fixed the OLINE problem that has existed for what... 15+ years?

You certainly can't build a quality o-line when you only spend one pick (even if it is the first round pick) on o-line like they did this year. They desperately needed to fix the o-line, so they bought one lottery ticket on it. It makes no sense. They had more holes than that.

So would I. But draft picks are not a for sure thing. The GMs did the part and drafted them. Even signed some FA. Just didn’t work. And yes, sometimes that bad luck goes for 15+ years. But it is what it is. I get the frustration on taking that long and then some. But it’s football life. Same thing for other teams for their QBs. Other teams for other positions. Other teams get lucky and nothing falters. It’s football life.

And they decided to go the other way. Nothing wrong with that. They know they can’t fix the whole team in on draft. And even if they went O, a bunch of rookie lineman weren’t going to be the line that emmit smith had this season.

Actually, when this is a year when the Bears need to really figure out of Fields is the guy, going heavy defence is pretty stupid. Sure, they got some receivers, but come on. No focus on o-line? And at least a bunch of possibly good rookies are better for now and the future than a bunch of known back-ups that are only starting because you don't have anything better.

I agree actually. But that didn’t happen. Nothing we can do about it now. But either way, there will be times where the line holds up. And those times are enough to see if Fields is the guy. Same thing happened with Burrow. He had a bad line but still showed he was that QB. Then they worked on the line. So you can still know if he’s the guy even with a bad line.

Can you imagine how much of a dumpster fire this line will be if Braxton Jones struggles? You already know Wright will have his fair share of rookie struggles too.
Imo if Jones struggles again, poles has failed this team. He could have upgraded that position in last years draft but instead opted for a 44 yo soon to be real estate agent, and passed on the position entirely in free agency/draft.

This staff can’t develop lol. Two young guys had a whole year and can’t play LG good enough to keep Whitehair at center.
How about kellen diesch, this dude is going to be a stud In a year or two! We have four very good tackles in this team and that’s exciting, it’s the inner 3 with concerns-
I mean, It’s not like we were going all in for a Super Bowl run this year. Yes, it will be great to win the Super Bowl this year. But let’s be realistic, we know and the front office knows that ain’t happening. They need 2 full draft years to even get in the playoffs. One full draft year has passed. Next year will be the second and we have good draft picks. We will see. But nothing is coming back to bite them when they know we ain’t making it to the big dance. To them, it’s about progressing first. Building a great team through 2-3 years to then compete. If something happens sooner because every thing gelled, then great. But there’s a reason why the Bears are +6000 to win the Super Bowl.
one of the positives of the building team are often injiuries to get playing time and experience for your serious runs bc if then needed, the guys aren’t coming in green and are much more developed! Trying to turn the frown upside down.

We do have four really really good offensive tackles in my opinion, maybe we can get something for one down the road or at least have some semblance of safety valances in place bc there are some spots in teams where a really good backup is key and tackle is certainly one of them!

Tevin is a stud bud injury prone so far but man I love the way the guy plays and when you play that hard you get hurt. I still love his play and attitude.

I know nothing of this Davis dude and wasn’t too impressed with what I saw of what little film I’ve seen of him and not sure he was worth what was paid bc I think Carter isn’t much of at all a downgrade.

I think Whitehair for one year could be stellar if he can stay healthy but he’s still not the one we should aspire to have at center!

Patrick scares the living crap out of me after all we heard and then what we saw were complete opposites, he was lost and thrown around like a rag doll from what I saw.

Kramer looked ok last week but that’s against lesser talent. But he’s still young!

I think a top of the line center and we can make a real run at something with this line being top ten if everyone is Healthy!

Let’s give tevin some time and not bust his balls bc he fucking brings it and that’s why he’s getting hurt, probably just trying a bit too hard too much. Rather have that kind of guy than some loafer wimp that’s always healthy bc he never gives his body up for his teammates in trying to win!

Character goes a long way in this world!!!

Let’s go Bears!!

I agree but this line will be very good when healthy and we are just short a stellar center of having one of the best lines in nfl!
