While we certainly aren't the favorites, Montador and Toews coming back would address two of the biggest issues the team has had in defense and center. Kane has actually been pretty solid centering the line with Hossa and Brunette. Toews coming back would create another top scoring line with Sharp and Stalberg (or someone else). Again we certainly aren't the favorites, but getting those two guys could allow this team to make a little noise in the postseason.

It's going to be very interesting to see what Q does when both of those guys are back, particularly on the forward combos. Kane's line has been real, real good of late, and there may not be a huge rush to break them up. With Kruger out now, Sharp and Stalberg will need a new C, for awhile, but what happens when Toews and Kruger are healthy? I know it's usually been a good idea to put Toews and Kane on the same line, but separating those two in the playoffs could make for two deadly scoring lines--something huge in the postseason. Remember that splitting up Toews and Kane in Game 5 helped them win the Cup.

Here's a guess on the lines:

Sharp-Toews-Stalberg
Brunette-Kane-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Shaw
Mayers-Kruger-Hayes/Frolik

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Oduya
Montador-Leddy

Since this is the step before contact I would say it is pretty significant. The idea isn't that Toews is going to playing anytime soon, but that he is taking steps forward to possibly being ready for the postseason which is the only thing that really matters.

Great.

Montador will be welcome. Haven't seen him in a long time. Maybe he can help spark the 2nd pp again (not holding my breath).

Doesnt mean a whole lot though. yay! he is skating. He is still not taking contact drills and the season is winding down. The only positive about it is that he probably will return next season and not turn out like some of the players that get concussions.

I'm going to jump out on a limb and say that Toews skates against Minnesota on Sunday.

Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews is one
step closer to returning from his concussion.
Toews is set to be cleared for contact as
soon as Thursday afternoon.
"I'm not sure if it's official yet, but
probably; if it's not [Thursday], it will be
soon though," Toews said.
Coach Joel Quenneville said Toews should
endure contact in the next few days. Toews,
though, will miss this weekend's games
against the Nashville Predators and
Minnesota Wild.

sweet.

a cheap shot by Clutterbuck & he'll be done.

this is taking a chance. i really dont want to see another thread of out indefinetley with another one of the hawks, let alone risking the future of one of the leagues best players.

I want to know about Patrick Kane now. 2nd Line Center or a winger?
