Congrats JT

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is one of three finalists for the 2012-13 Frank J. Selke Trophy, the NHL said Wednesday.

Toews joins centers Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins and Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings as contenders for the award, which goes to "the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game."

Toews was runner-up to Vancouver's Ryan Kesler for the award in 2011. The winner will be announced during the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.

It's not Bergerons to lose. No doubt he had a great season and is a great all around players. Toews sh point stats might be the difference maker here. Bergerons don't compare. Nor do his other stats. Toews owns him in almost all categories including takeaways which is nearly double that of Bergerons. Toews has more goals..more assists..better +/-..less give aways etc etc. Bergeron has more hits and a better faceoff percentage. That's not going to win him the award. Not sure what you guys are smoking.

If anything..its Toews award to lose unless eastern bias comes into play.

Even the face offs are pretty much a wash, seeing as Toews took more of them than Bergeron.

I would love to see someone go through a list of the nominations for these trophies over the last 10 years and analyze how many times the person from the east won. And if there was more than one person from the east, the northeast.

But those were years the writers were forced to see some of the west coast players play vs east

This year...none of those old bastards saw any west coast games...talked to any west coast analysts...

I don't see how anyone not named Jonathan Toews can win this award... Datsyuk had his time, but it's Johnnys turn now.
