Yeah but scoring goals does has something to with being the best overall defensman. I don't see that as part of a prerequisite or even as support for a player winning the Selke. It should be disregarded. That has it's own award.

They should just rename this the Datsyuk(yes, he's a Redwing, but he's really that far above and beyond everyone else). No idea who wins it this season. If Datsyuk plays a full season, there's no question who wins it. Given that he missed time, it's a tossup who they vote for.

I think Kesler's going to take this in a cakewalk. He was a +24, won 57.4% of his draws, anchored the second best penalty kill in the league and played on the team with the number one overall defense. Datsyuk missed too many games. Toews rarely has a bad day defensively, but he won't stand out in the eyes of the voters like other two do.
