I gotta say the guy washed that filthy redwing slime off himself pretty damn good.

Impressive start to the season no doubt. I'm starting to worry that he and Hossa are a little bit too close though if you catch my drift (Its a nasty drift so I wouldn't stay down wind too long).

BOOM. Not his fault they sucked him in at a tender young age. I was a huge skeptic on this guy, but after the Olympics he's been a beast. I love him.

I'll sign this petition.

Also, keep in mind he is playing in a contract year, which does go hand in hand with good numbers. Which means some gm will want to throw big money at him. It'll be interesting to see if Hawks make any effort to sign him during the season. If so, they better wait till his numbers cool off a little.

CokePepsi has had a pretty damn good start to the year, I can't really see the production keeping up but even when he cools off, he'll still be effective IMO as long as he keeps doing the same things.
Leave Hossa? LOL He'll stay if they make him an offer.
Ha! good point.

Yeah, If Kopecky's agent starts talking about "testing the free agent waters," Stan can just take a big puff of his cigar, kick back on his chair, and laugh until his stomach explodes.

"Look mofo, I got Marion under contract until 2021, which pretty much means I got Pecker by the balls. He ain't going anywhere. If I offered your client a happy meal and a new Dodge to stay, he's taking it. I know it. You know it. And the Slovakian people know it. So let's cut the bullshit and get a contract signed."

I laughed when I imagined him actually saying this in his soft efeminate sounding voice.

Room for only one Slovak lol?

Kopi has done as good as ANYONE that would be paired up with The Chief and Tazer. He's grown on me quite a bit though and I like his game a lot. If he could finish more the first line would be unnnnnnstopable.

If things don't work out on the top two lines maybe he'd work out with Bolland. Just a tought...

Don't go straight to the "contract year" argument. Kopecky has been getting better every year. There was no contract year excuse for his improvement last year. Whether it's a combination of coaching style, washing off that Detroit slime, or getting the right line mates, he's been elevating his game since he got to Chicago. I don't care what year it is in his contract as long as he keeps it up.

Nice avatar Mary!

I agree with you, although I do think the contract year bit may hold part of the answer, I also believe that Kopecky simply might be experiencing a breakout year considering its his 4th season in the NHL. Coupling that with the fact that he is playing with one of the best players in the world, and of course he is going to see an increase in production.

I think its a combination of things... breakout year, playing with one of the top players in the world, and playing harder for his future contract. I'd say the last one probably has the least effect on his performance but I'm sure there is some motivation there. I think the biggest influence in his game right now is playing with Hossa.

Thanks! I couldn't get it to work on horizontal lines, so I went for the vertical. Still not completely happy with it, but the picture fits the sentiment :D

As for the Hossmosis, absolutely he plays better with him! I've always thought grinders and finesse boys click better than two finessers. Their playing style compliments, but they're also buddies, have played together a lot in the past, they've got the language in common... so why wouldn't they be a great pair? If Hoss is what it takes to bring out the best in Kopy, so be it. Keep 'em both.

(Plus we needed another bromance other than Keith and Seabs. That one was getting stale.)

I think Kopecky has been filling his role well on that line, but wouldn't everyone be curious to see how much that line could really produce with an adequate skill player in that slot?

I'd buch rather have a grinder to go to the corners to get the puck out and go to the front of the net on that line. We already have 2 generals on that line (be it Hossa/Sharp or Hossa/Toews)--it needs a soldier and Kotex is doing his job at that--kinda like Brouwer did/does wth Sharp/Kane and Toews/Kane.
