I think Kopecky has been filling his role well on that line, but wouldn't everyone be curious to see how much that line could really produce with an adequate skill player in that slot?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I think chemistry is more important than skill at this point.

Both fair assessments, and I don't neccessarily disagree. Just curious what others thought.

I agree with you, although I do think the contract year bit may hold part of the answer, also believe that Kopecky simply might be experiencing a breakout year considering its his 4th season in the NHL. Coupling that with the fact that he is playing with one of the best players in the world, and of course he is going to see an increase in production.

I think its a combination of things... breakout year, playing with one of the top players in the world, and playing harder for his future contract. I'd say the last one probably has the least effect on his performance but I'm sure there is some motivation there. I think the biggest influence in his game right now is playing with Hossa.
He is playing with the best skilled player on the Hawks. Hossa is not only playing some of his best hockey, but Toews is also benefiting from being on the ice with him. Last year they were rock solid in the penalty kill and doing a great job with the shorties.

Now, with a grinder who will go to the corners, get in the crease and do the dirty work...Toews and Hossa are doing great.

Right now, the other teams are going to key on hossa. So far, it hasn't worked...but when they do...Tazer is going to be on a tear. Hossa is probably one of the strongest skaters I have ever seen. He keeps players off him and the puck and him going around the perimeter at will, makes the Hawks that much more dangerous.

The season is only weeks old and Hossa is not even in playing shape yet. Just wait...its gonna get better!
