Why are we all living here?.

Question for everyone unfortunate enough to be freezing their asses off. Are you here by choice, or did you get stuck residing here?. I'm stuck til' this damn mortgage is paid. What sucks even worse is, barring the casino there are NO good restaurants in this town...and women all have short legs/dark hair.

Now, if I were actually in the city I wouldn't be complaining about the weather due to food being better and the women hotter.:yep:

Well I have a mortgage here now, but I choose to stay here. My roots have been here for over 100 years.

Same except im not sure 100 years.... might be close.

I like living in the Suburbs and working in the City.... I live in Orland Park and I can find good pizza and some decent restaurants, though I am no foodie so what I find acceptable may not be the same for you.

But your property taxes are higher than Naples Florida, yet no beach.

You do have better restaurants though, I can't even find good Mexican food...in a town chock full of Mexicans.

Yeah property taxes suck... but Chicago (suburbs) is my home.... I have no desire to move to Florida or Arizona or California.... I certainly could if I wanted to, especially California since I am a software dev... but this is my home where all my family and friends are, so here is where I stay. Temperature is just temperature to me, and when it comes to snow I have AWD :D

Keep the beach. You can keep the Sandy crotches all you want.

You can't find a good Mexican Restaurant? I've been to loads of them from Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, Joliet...

I understand, even when residing in Florida I still flew up for the holidays...and enjoyed the snow/cold.

Friends/family are certainly worth the shitty weather, as are inflated property taxes.

Where do you live?

No good restaurants? There are some of the best restaurants on the planet in this town - from fine dining to shit hole ethnic neighborhood joints. Name any ethnic cuisine and I can name a restaurant in Chicago proper that is fucking amazing. Like Viet? Tank on Argyle or Pho Ha in Glendale Heights. Like Mexican? Cemitas Puebla on North Ave or Bien Trucha in Geneva. See.

But if you mention good restaurants and 'the casino' in the same sentence, I guess that describes the sophistication of your palate! :)

As for women, depending on where you look, there are insanely hot women. Walk around Armitage or Michigan Avenue or Oz Park on a Saturday in July. Go to downtown Naperville on a warm August Saturday. There are gobs of hot women here.

I travel a lot for business and Chicago is at the top of the list. San Diego is obviously much better, but Chicago is good shit. The sleeper city? Minneapolis. Insanely hot girls there. Spend time at Target corp HQ and the marketing chicks will rival the ASU cheerleader roster!

Yes, the weather sucks dong. I'm a big car guy and having to store my cars and NOT be able to drive them, track them, open them up on twisty farm roads absolutely fucking kills me. Not to mention the kids being stuck inside.

Unfortunately, my business keeps my locked here. If not, I'd move somewhere warm in a heartbeat - most likely San Diego. I spend a lot of time in Austin and it's arguably the most overrated city on the planet.

Depends on your version of authentic Mexican, my recollections came from Romeoville ala Jarisco in 1983(look-up Al Pastor pork)...we don't have it 50 miles north of you b/c Northern Mexicans are not very good cooks.

It's fawking cold here, too many homeless crackheads, too many pigeons, I've got my woman and know how to cook.

In a couple of years I'm outta here, but I will buy a little studio condo downtown just for visits.

Kindly re-read opening statement, I said suburbs. I use cream cheese in my hollandaise sauce as opposed to dry mustard...that is the difference between Chicago downtown etc and the suburbs.

For me, it was never about the cold...it was about months and months and months of gloom. Constant gray skies. Slush mixed with dirt. Dark when you go to work, dark when you get home. It's like a blanket of depression that drapes over the entire area for god damn nearly half the year. I'm pretty sure I have a diagnosable condition to be honest....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder . I've heard light therapy works, but **** all that. It was 84 and sunny here today.

No offense but there isn't a version. There's an easy test. Take a Mexican Abuela and IF she eats at a place bingo you're at an Authentic place
