Columbus didn't discover America.
The Spanish did long before Columbus was even born.
As a matter of fact, Columbus is one of the biggest mass murderers in American history as he slaughtered American Indians....Maybe John Wayne Gacie and Jeffry Dahmer should have there own national holiday too.
Its sickening how the education system continues to teach children false history.
this i disagree with(well, more unsure than definite disagreement)
beyond some miniscule evidence that the vikings reached southeast canada in the early 1000s, many of the conjectures about europeans before columbus are, well, conjectures(although after reading some articles...its easy to figure out that columbus was probably not the first post-viking european to reach america..)
I do agree, though, that columbus gets a ridiculous amount of consideration for a guy who was,by what i have seen, a complete jackass, a convinct or vigilant, and really discovered nothing
i think the main utilization of columbus' and creating some possibly distorted history was for implication purposes
in other words, columbus' voyage was a popular marking point for the beginning of the age of expansion, expedition, trade and overall globalization
the common story of columbus is fabricated to conceal some "sketchy" information...because who wants to mark the beginning of a breakthrough era with a story about some trash "italian" who discovered nothing, treated the natives awfully, etc.?
