Been watching a 42 story hotel with revolving restaurant at the top being slowly demolished from the top down using the Brokk system of demolition robots. Will take a year to disassemble, containing all materials and dust. Very little effect to surrounding residential area.

I never heard of this method before, but what a brilliant and ingenious idea.

I'm taking photos of the process, as it is viewable from my living room window. Fascinating.

Not so ingenious. Just an incredibly slow process that could likely be done faster by hand.

It is ingenious and fascinating, and obviously a better deal or they wouldn't use them.

Spartong thinks it's cowardly, like using drones, better to use your warrior spirit and punch the building down.

He has to be the tiniest little ***** of all time, I've never seen his level of overcompensating. For a long time I thought it was a joke, I mean an intentional joke.

What is ingenious about this?

And how can anyone be fool enough to believe something that takes much longer and requires more man hours is a better deal? number51 ain't all there. Obviously they were forced to do it in this tedious costly fashion as to not endanger surrounding buildings.

I guess you missed the 42 story aspect. They attached rails on all corners, from bottom to top, and platforms go up and down it dismantling the revolving restaurant right now. Maybe mentioning Brokk overshadowed the title of the thread.

Yeah, more tedious then blowing it up with a stick of dynamite but also much safer for the general public and people that actually have to work on the job. The use of these machines and drones will be used more and more in the construction industry as technology advances because it is safer, more cost effective and in a lot of cases actually faster.

Since this is a longer process, does that mean more fully processed materials are recouped and reclaimed? Unlike broad-term recycling, which can be lumber turned into sawdust and stone turned into gravel, metals needing to be re-melted, which is okay, but reclaiming is far better when possible.

If that's the case, then sorry, there is no argument. The time commitment becomes well worth it.

I'll post one in about 9 or 10 months, lol.

Not sure if they are salvaging, but I would imagine so. Will have to read more.

Similar process to a 40 story building in Japan in 2013.

Here's your time lapse HawkBear

And apparently, the one here they crush the concrete before removing, so more recycling than reclaiming.

Okay Yoda.

You're a moron, of course it's cost effective. If the law does not allow them to blow the place up, they go to the next best option. Why would you think you know more about their business than they do? You arrogant dip shit.
