Emery yet again mentioned Stats Inc. as being the company the Bears use to generate their metrics and here from John Pollard of Stats Inc. is the likely metric that led to the Bears signing Ryan Mundy. Mundy's tackle quality was third among free agent safeties.

What the heck is an "Impact Tackle"?

(aren't all tackles impacts?)

For that matter, what exactly does "Tackle Quality" even mean?

Is this what people with degrees in statistics do for a living?

Is our new GM funding this malarky?

I for one doubt very much that a single metric leads to the signing of any player.

Sorry I shouldn't have said THE, probably should have said ONE OF. I admittedly fucked that one up.

That makes more sense.

It'd be nice to see Mundy's coverage statistics, if they have those available. Chicago media has pegged him as a box safety, and I wonder if the metrics bear that out.

I missed this earlier on John Pollard's twitter feed but here is what you were looking for:

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
Did Mundy play special teams? If so, I wonder how many of his tackles were on special teams.

Bumping this so we can look at Ihegdibo since he's apparently deciding between us and lions.
