I actually think trading DJ Moore makes some sense for us but not now and more like around the trade deadline or even next offseason. Then we would know what we have in R.Odunze and L.Burden who i think both will be #1 type WR's, at the very least top of the league #2 WR's but i really see #1 especially with Rome.

We have so much talent at WR/TE right now that i don't think losing DJ Moore would hurt us. No such thing as too much talent but it's a lot and i think could actually help Caleb and throw away the worry of the chance of having unhappy players if they aren't getting the ball enough.

DJ Moore is owed at least $24.9 mil each year through the 2029 season and that money could be used elsewhere.

DJ Moore seems like a logical trade candidate in the near future, but gotta see what you have first.

Dead cap drops from $35 million to $8 million in Moore's Age 30 season (2027), so that seems like a fair place to expect some movement.

We'll also know by then whether Caleb Williams is getting PAID or they're looking for their next QB. Either way, no need to keep around a $28 mil/yr 30+ year old receiver.

Damn CCS really is bored

no they are not trading DJ Moore because he pouted a few times on the sideline last year.

You dont even know if your "weapons" are any good. Burde, Loveland and even rome could all be busts.

DJ Moore is on a pretty decent deal, is by all accounts a great teammate as well. I'm fairly certain every "star" WR would be upset if their QB was overthrowing them nonstop.

If the bears deal him this year, they’re eating some money. They’re also getting a less-than-desirable return because he’s coming off a bad year.

Naturally, this is a terrible idea, and the smart thing to do would be effectively use your star WR who you just extended.

Normally this is the part where I blanket-insult many fans of this team, many of which on this very board, but no— the only idiot/ret@rd here is me. Not the fans who keep winning because the GM is caving to their desires. They got WR3 at 9 overall last year, preinjured TE2 at 10 this year, and WR 3/4 (depends on what they see in/how they use Olamide Zaccaeus) at 39 this year. They’re on a roll, so why not?

I’m actually let down that we haven’t seen more mocks for next year with even more WRs going to the bears early, since Matt Millen is the GM here.

DJ Moore isn’t shiny or new compared to the other toys, so he’s got to go in the garbage for another new one. And an insulting trade return will just have to be accepted after it’s spun as a good return and king poles strikes again or however the fucking line goes.

I think DJ being traded is unlikely cause it would require that Rome, Burden, and Loveland are all hits and all are developed enough to realize that this year. That's a big ask. Poles and Ben won't ok a trade that jeopardizes Caleb's development... unless the offer was mind blowing I guess (and the trade offer won't be). So that said, a trade won't happen until next offseason at the earliest.

Ultimately, if those guys are all hits, moving Moore could make sense as they'd save money to use elsewhere rather than getting diminishing returns from too many weapons. Depending on how they want to handle it, a trade pre or post June 1st can move around the cap hit. If I'm looking at it correctly, it's 12 mil pre-June 1 or 4 and 8mil if post June 1. It also might be an ok contract to move as he's not even a top 10 paid WR and he's under contract through 2029. He'd make less than 20 million a year for whoever trades for him. And again, I'm talking in 2026 at the earliest. There's just no way I see him being traded this year.

It’s obvious that it’s a possibility. With that said, those players outside of Moore would really have to shine early in the season to even consider it.

Everyone is tradable though. But comes down to what you get in return, and where will you be by making that trade. You have to know first.

I'd like to see the rookies actually play first before trading known commodities. I feel more confident that Loveland will succeed than I do Burden.

You really think the Bears will knows exactly what they have by the trade deadline this year in rookie WR LBIII...? Okay....
Well it clearly said by the trade deadline OR NEXT OFFSEASON and yes i think they'll have a good enough idea on what they think Burden will be.

You don't seem bored since you still post in every single thread that gets made on CCS.....and here you are. LOL

Amazing how you know for certain that DJ Moore won't be traded.

Reading comprehension finds you again on this one. Clearly said by the trade deadline or next offseason and they will have an idea what we have by then.

DJ being on a good deal means an even better return for the Bears.

Don’t discount op thread. Good idea trade Moore now so that next years draft black Matt millen can ignore trenches again and draft a first round wr. Flarking jeenius
We won't need a 1st round WR when we already have two legit WR's and two legit TE's.

I feel like Ben Johnson will get every bit of talent out of Loveland, Burden and Rome and all 3 have a ton of talent.

.......Which we have a lot of right now.

So we want to get worse for what reason?

For the first time in a long time this bears team actually has talent.

Right now they have a logjam at one spot, and thats the slot WR position.

DJ Moore doesnt play in the slot. Maybe luther burden can be a starting X one day, but its not likely since he didnt play that position much in college.

If anything the drafting of two slot options in Burden/Loveland signals that cold cements time in chicago may be coming up. Then again, maybe they keep him too as mediocre TE's make like 5-6m, so you'd only be saving 6m trading him.

Im really getting confused why people see a slot WR and think we no longer need an X WR.

This is like seeing a tight end and saying DJ Moore is now expendable. They can all be on the field at the same time.

2 years from now if DJ Moore is declining and is 30 then sure maybe they move on, but right now all the contracts link up to pay Rome/Caleb when DJ is basically expiring.
